DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
In the Dodge Towing Guide, Why does it read that the 3500 DUALLY'S ( CURB WEIGHT ) is the same as a 3500 SRW (6877 ) ? Fords F -350 SRW weighs in at 62-6300 lbs. I would think the DODGE SRW would be lighter because it's a foot shorter in length Both these trucks are the same, New diesel motors 5.9, 6.0 , auto, 410's, longbed, 4x2, Quad cab, Crew Cab. Is there anyone out their that could give me the ( CURB WEIGHT ) of the NEW DODGE 3500 (SRW,SRW SRW ) truck mentioned above???? I surely can't get an answer from DODGE. And no , They don't have one on the lot that I could go weigh. THANKS I'm needing this weight to figure my GVWR ??
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
I don't know what you pulled up exactly for vehicle specs on Dodge's site, but this what I did and came up with, they weren't the same like you came up with.

3500, Quad Cab, 4x4, Laramie, H.O. Cummins

Single Wheel = 7220#
Dual Wheel = 7567#
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
MOPAR MUDDER , The specs. I pulled up were from two different DODGE DEALERs SPECS. BOOKS at the dealerships. I told them " no way can a SRW, QUAD CAB. ( 6878 LBS. ) weigh as much as a dually QUAD CAB." ( 6878 LBS. ) They said they would check into it, w-e-l-l-l-l, I got a call this afternoon from one of the dealers and they checked with some one in DODGE ENG. OFFICE. and the weight of the SRW IS 6300 LBS. They said it was a misprint . Wounder if I'll get something free for finding their error, fat chance huh! Oh, Also in the same book they had a 3500 ( REG. ). cab. DUALLY longbed same motor and trans, weighing in at 6912 FIGURE that one out?? These weights are in DODGES " 2003 DODGE TRUCK JOB RATING "
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
MOPAR MUDDER, I checked the curb weights on the site you gave me . Sorry, they are wrong also. An SLT SRW does not weigh the same as a SLT DUALLY but that site says they do??

Are you pushing close to the GCVW is why you are worried? I was worried about the same thing when ordering. Then I figured out that I will be so for over the GCVW that it isn't worth trying to stay under, just gona have to do it :-[

Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
MOPAR MUDDER, I'm under the GCWR AND THE GROSS TRAILER WEIGHT RATING . The one thing I'm not sure about is the GVRW thats why I must have a good firure on the curb weight. If it's 6300 I'm under, If it's 6877 I'm over. Or am i cutting the line to close on this stuff? I really want a SRW because of DAILY DRIVING, BUT I DO WANT ENOUGH TRUCK TO HANDLE A 34 FT. 5ER @ 11,000LBS. MAX. LOADED WEIGHT? Give me your thoughts on this and anyone else who reads this . Going to order the truck WED. afternoon. THANKS!!!
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
MOPAR MUDDER, See you got a DUALLY. How does it do in the snow since were both in " SNOW COUNTRY " I've heard they weren't to good " PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS !! Thanks again
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
I was actually very surprised at how good it is in the snow actually. I was expecting it to be pretty squirrley but it isn't bad at all. And in 4x4 you really can't tell you are driving a dually.
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
Phonse, the curb weight for my 2WD dually quad cab HO six speed is 7,072 pounds. The payload is is 4,430 pounds.
The curb weight for the same truck in the SRW long box is 6,721 pounds and the payload is 3,180.
This info comes from the Dodge Towing guide in PDF format which is no longer available on their website. At least I can't find it.
And the new limited slip is a lot better than the Dana version that I had in my 97. I get the same weather as you do only about 10 minutes later. Good luck.

Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
I weighed my truck prior to buying adjusted for empty fuel and no passengers and it is 6256lbs. After purchase and adding Tube Steps, Rubber mat in bed, 5th wheel Reese Slider 16k hitch and my stuff, tools and things, full fuel and two passengers I tip the scales at 7130lbs. All I need to add is my pin weight and I am good to go. This may give you some guideline if you adjust for the difference for your truck. When I add my pin I come to 9155lbs. That is all I intend to carry.
Hope that helps.
Re:DODGE TOWING GUIDE ?
KENR " Thank you" I really needed that information! I just ordered my 3500 SRW 5.9, 48RE, 410, LONGBED, QC, SLT. And I want to thank everyone else who has put up with me the last few months, I started out in NOV. knowing nothing at all about DIESEL MOTORS or these bigger trucks, now I feel better about shelling out the HUGE amount of $$$$$$ for this truck! This summer I will tell you all how she pulls the 34 ft. 5er. I know I've heard both sides = dually or srw, Well I made my choice, THANKS AGAIN " AL "
