do I need a triple disc TC???????

I tow with the truck in sig --12,000 5er. Just returned from a 7K trip cross country AND TC started to chatter with a load in OD. I do not pull BIG/steep hills in OD, and gentle on the tranny..........
Truck just turned over 100k on trip-running 2250 in direct at 55 mph really sucks when speed limit is 75mph !
Soooooooooo I am planning on building the 48re BUT I do not know if I need a triple disc TC or a heavy single.
Have read about harsh engagement of triple disc and that concerns me.
Thanks in advance

That much weight most builders will advocate for a 3 disc. Source Automotive in Portland is local. Or Garmon transmission in Georgia. I went with the Garmon, and installed myself. I ran into the exact same problems as you pulling over the summer. Now I have the Jr cranked and use a Quadzilla tow pressure box for more. Waiting on a used Sr. Or for efi live to come out. Any questions about my experience pm me.

If you go with a triple better spend the money on a better input shaft.
I know several who broke the stock shaft with mild power increases with a hard locking converter.

X2 on the shafts. I had mine built by HTS and Dusty said I'd be fine with a Suncoast 91% single disc. He also said 12.5k is not a problem for a single.
