Do a walk around before you move the truck when towing. You'd be surprised how that will prevent damage by seeing what is going on with the trailer. Door's open, stuff left on the fenders, chains off, ect.

Sooner or later it will get ya.
I fixed the problem before I ruined my tailgate. I knew it was going to happen so I bought a cheap v-gate. In the spring the cap comes off and the v-gate goes on. I just drive right under the pin.

So many people ripping the tailgate off unhooking their gooseneck. How could you do that. All you got to do is leg the gate down, it aint' that hard. OK, I admit it, I did it once but only once. I could have swore I let that tailgate down. A few days ago I was at a local Lowe's getting a pallet of mulch loaded on my truck and the kid on the forklift rammed my tailgate and bent the sh** out of it. I bet he don't do that again.

Congrats you have a real truck now! First thing I did was load a car onto a 28 foot gooseneck trailer with the ball latch not locked. Gooseneck came off the ball and tailgate stopped the trailer from going right through the rear window/cab so I didn't feel so bad about bashing it up

Anyone have experience with these guys for a replacement tailgate. After I destroyed mine I received a quote of $454.00 from them including S/H. I haven't bought on yet, but that price was prepainted.

My GN has one of those stupid sliding necks. It has 2 bolts with jam nuts that are suppose to support a 10 ton trailer, well needless to say they didn't that is why I'm typing this! I had a load of trees on my GN and pulled out of the gas station and heard and felt something and didn't think much of it until I got out and low and behold the stupid neck had dropped on my tailgate! I have a nice dent in the top of my tailgate. I drilled a hole completely through the neck and put a T pin in it!

My G/N has the same design. I was pulling mine one day and the same thing happened, felt like the the truck broke in half when it hit. Didn't hit the tailgate though it was close. I've since changed the neck style.
