What damage can be done to your 1995 4WD 1 Ton truck if it is towed in from the rear and the transfer case is in gear?

What gear was it in? If it was 4 wheel drive, you've got problems, in 2 wheel, probably O.K.

 

What does your owners manual say? Sometimes short distance towing at a lower speed is fine.

 

There are a couple variables to this question
I believe the '95 had a vacuume disconnect for the front axle. Since I have no experience with the vacuume disconnect I will need others to chime in.
Assuming the vacuume is created by the engine while it is running it is possible the front axle disconnect disengaged on it's own (engine not running, no vacuume created...) and all that happened was the spider gears got a workout in the other direction (no harm done) as the front drive shaft wasn't turning
worst case... the axle disconnect was engaged and the rear wheels were spinning at the same speed as the front. and all the slap and torque associated could have shortened the life of the transfer case.

 

Errm.... I just saw your other post. for whatever reason I thought your transfer case was in 4x4... If they hooked to the back with the rear wheels off the ground, transfer case in 2 high... no harm done. There is no diffrence to the internals on the front end. the vaccume disconnect would have prevented the front drive shaft from turming.
