Custom/Homemade Ford 5th Wheel Tailgate

Check out this Ford with a custom/homemade built tailgate for his 5th wheel.

Interesting, maybe more diamond plate to trim it out, but I just couldn't do that to a nice stock tailgate!

Wait till you forget to lower it and wack it and then you'll be ok with modding it!

Seen a bunch of them over the years in Indiana. It was a popular mod for the rv haulers, and cheaper than a $350 louvered tailgate.

My cousin made that comment this weekend, about how I hadn't be the tailgate, I'm sure its only a matter of time.

V'ed stock tailgate

Saw two different ones on Dodges in the Myrtle Beach, SC. area a couple of years ago. Talked to the one guy. He asked a body shop about doing the job, shop had him get a gate out of a salvage yard, and they did the job on it. Turned out well, they painted it to match his truck and he gave them his original gate as they continued to do tailgates. On his, they moved the latch handle to left side about halfway down the gate. It makes a real clean job and you still have use of the gate. Stand on it, load on it, work on it, good to go.
