I've found that my truck rides much stiffer with the cap off.

I guess that couple of hundred pounds on the rear end helps soak up some of the bumps.

The tailgate is already done. I just need the top of the rails done now. I don't know though. I can get rail caps for about $75 or so.

Yeah Ed. That is definitely true for my truck too. Definitely feel the bumps more.
She does have a bit more pep now so you know I like that....

Don't do the rail caps, man. They rubbed the heck out of my paint, and I ended up getting spray on anyhow.

I have always had railcaps. I just make sure there is plenty of 3M tape if they are the stick on type, or I put weatherstripping all along the underside if they are the type held on by the tiedowns.
Either way, the top of my rails are already trashed from this cap... I may take it down and get an estimate today though..

I like having the cap but MAN! It looks sooooo much better with it off. The tires look bigger and more proportioned to the truck now and it doesn't look like a Grandpa truck anymore.....

I picked up a set of Bilsteins from a guy who totaled his PowerWagon so those are going on first today. Then I am installing an additional 24" muffler to quiet this thing down a bit. I get some drone when I turn my C3.2 box up and I don't like it.
I am soooooooo glad I decided not to BOMB this truck....

SOOO???? Put the cap back on - - the truck should follow the image of the owner.

Sorry, Zilla - - just had to do it.

I expect more from someone that has been at this site longer than I have!!!

That was pretty good there "FunnyBob"

And I think I'm still pretty young compared to some of you guys..........

I still have the cap and will use it whenever needed. For you BOB, I will use an aluminum walker whenever I have it on the truck...

Thanks there sonny - - I appreciate your consideration of my senior years - - I just don't get around as good anymore. Uhhhh, can you get closer to that door to let me out? Thanks, sonny.

It will be a while before I use this walker since I don't need the cap right now. Do you want to us it, old feller?
