I would suggest getting some heavy line and using it to saw between the cap and bed. Get someone on the other side and help you...

Or just leave it on!! I don't like many of them, but I kinda like that one on your truck.

Seriously......good luck with the removal. I'd try the jack with a board spreading out the force method like mentioned earlier.

Um, well, those are some good suggestions friends.....

I've had caps before and I kind of like having one but sometimes it's nice to pull it off and be able to see out the back. That's why I was going to remove it. I didn't really have to but now that I know it's stuck there I will obsess about it until I figure out how to get it loose. I don't mind it being there though. I'm picking up a tonneau cover today, for those times when I have the cap off, and I really wanted to install it this weekend. I don't think that's gonna happen...

And I don't think a hurricane would blow this thing off. I'm telling you that thing does not budge at all when you try to lift up on it. My brother is coming over to rotate his tires today. Maybe we'll try together and see what happens.....

Does it move anywhere? Hope they did not use some liquid nails or something...

Talking

You could just unbolt and remove the bed and cap as a unit and install a flat bed.

You DO have the phone number of the previous woner, call and ask about how it was installed?

If you can get it to start coming loose in a corner with heat or WD40, get some wooden wedges like those used to shim doors, tap them in carefully between the cap and the gasket, just enough to make a little gap, spray with WD40 as you go along, give it a little time to soak in, it will break the seal between the cap and the gasket, then deal with the gasket on the truck.

Lots of installers use single sided tape and stick it to the cap, some reverse and stick to the truck first, either way the opposite side over time does get kind of glued down too. I have never seen anyone use double sided tape, but there is alway that exception. If this person was intent on no leaks, that may be the case. You just need to get a little gap started then work it down the line, it will come loose without damage if you take your time.

My buddy had one on his and it took both of us to get it off. It wasn't glued, it had just formed a very good seal.

Mine was glued on. I used some small wood wedges and a hack saw blade to pry apart and cut the glue....the hard part was the front, only have access from one side.

Well, I do like the cap being on there so I just decided to leave it alone. Thanks for more "Great" ideas guys....

I spent all day cleaning it up, installing my "Fake" air horns, My Van Aaken C3.2 box, my block heater cord, and my Prodigy Voyager trailer brake controller. I did a few other things too. I just didn't feel like messing with the cap....

Just an update on this....

Summer is half over and I figure if the seal was gonna break then now would be the time to try this again. This time I got smart and backed the truck up to my dock and used the forklift with some 2x4s on top of the forks. She popped right off. I can't wait to drive it now. I bet she will have a bit more pep without that weight back there.
I'll get some pics this weekend. It definitely looks better now but I need bedcaps and a bed-cover now too......

Hey, buddy... go to the local line-x place, have them do the rails and the top of the tailgate... I had it done on the ol's truck for $225 here, and it covered up all the scratches and stuff... made it look good.

Glad you got it off.
