Can't get my cap off!!
Any tips on getting a cap off of a truck? Apparently mine has been on this truck for 5 years and I can't get it to budge. Of course I pulled the clamps off and checked for any bolts or screws that may have been holding it on but there is nothing but the weatherstripping between it and the bed rails. I sure hope someone was not stupid enough to use double sided tape when they installed it.....

My last truck had a cap. In the summer the rubber gasket between the bed rails and cap would get hot and stick like super glue. I'd lay in the bed of the truck, put my feet on the roof of the cap and push.
Popped it loose every time.

Use the jack method along with ample amount of wood to spread out the load and don't get in a big rush !!!!!
Steady pressure along with some heat will do it start in a rear corner and work your way around and stick a thin shim under it when you get some space so it does not reattach itself while you progress along.

Yes Sir it is. I was planning on bringing the hairdryer out too just like st.rodder2 suggested. I'll report back sometime this weekend when I get a chance to mess with it more. I was trying to do this before I opened up for business this morning and now I will have to wait until tomorrow....

What about gently cutting under the edge of the cap with a cutting torch?
I don't think anybody would notice if the box was an inch lower.
haha
Hair dryer might be the best bet, or try spraying the edges of the gasket with WD40 and see if that helps overnight.

It'll disappear in no time.
