can i pull a 20,000lb trailer?
Thanks Rick, I couldn't remember the grade of that hill. And yeah, I could have gone slower but at 3am & no one else on the road but me, I didn't. I don't plan to pull that load again, it was a one time deal.
Sorry guys, go ahead & flame me too, but I agree with Cowboy. If you are going to haul 20,000# loads, get a real truck. Otherwise, pay somebody else to do it. BTW, if you have an accident, your insurance company will laugh at you and you will be in debt the rest of your life paying off whoever you killed, because you were exceeding factory tow ratings. No paycheck is worth your life or someone else's. Done ranting.
Wildbill, you are right, and no I won't flame you, cause you didn't just assume that I'm pulling trailers like that for bragging rights or whatever. My partner calls me at 10pm on Sunday night, broken down on I-65(broken driveshaft). I did it only because it was an emergency and would not try it again. Sure, its easy to be a armchair quarterback now(me included)...... we should've done this, or done that. I'd chalk it up to a lucky lesson learned, but my point is that I was NOT trying to pull some crazy stunt to brag about later, as cowboy customs assumed.
I wouldn't tow that combo on a bet. WAAAAAAAAY too much weight for a 2500. As for the CDL, as long as the equipment is yours or you are not towing for hire you only need a current regular drivers license.

It wasn't his and no way DOT would believe he was hauling it for free . He was REAL lucky pulling all the way across TN without being stopped . They don't fool around in TN and overloaded pickups with trailers are a favorite target .
