Do you have something bigger than this? http://trailersnhitches.com/putnamcart/25132.html
And I am worried about towing a 8 ton pintle trailer with a 9,500lb. backhoe.

What is the heaviest any of you have towed with a pintle and pickup?

Well , he could always get one of those hitches with a wheel that were discussed a while back .

There's an outfit near my place that pulls backhoe's on pintle trailers every day. Behind Ford Dually's, no squat at all. It actually looks good behind there.

Do I agree with it, no. But I see them many days a week.

I'm not sure but can a receiver hitch safely tow that? i thought that 10,000[12,000wdh]is about the max, then you have to step up to a 5ver or a goose

Had about 10,000# of trailer, bobcat, accessories, etc on a pintle on the back of my 1st gen truck. Towed fine on the road BUT wht I got the trailer high centered in the field I put the truck in 4low and started to pour the coal to it.

Ripped the frame around the trailer hitch for my troubles(and stupidity). Hitch was fine, I actually reused it after the frame was repaired. But I tied the top of the hitch into the bottom of the bumper to better support it.

You can pull it! As long as you dont have a crazy amount of tongue weight you will be fine! You can pull it in 5th and not have a problem at all. I have pulled loads well over 18k on a 40'trailer with only a 2 5/16 ball on a reciever hitch! Plus the factory ratings are way way on the safe side! If you take it easy and have any kind of head on your shoulders and set the bobcat as far back as you can and increase your trailer brake gain you will be fine!!

Hey RAF, I just pulled a 24,000 pintle trailer(Bobcat excavator, Bobcat loader+trailer) from Louisville, KY INVENTORY RECONCILIATION to Chattanooga, TN. The truck squatted but did fine, I ran 60-62mph in 4th gear. If you know that hill going east on I-24 around Monteagle, it was a mother, I ended up in 3rd gear doing 35mph by the time I reached the top. If you take your time and drive carefully, you'll be ok.

OMG, I might be young but thats just STUPID! I have a class A, and I have been driving for 3 years and its guys like ya'll that haul that much weight on a pickup truck that are absolutly disgusting. Im sorry, but you have to remember something, it IS NOT what you can PULL, its what you can STOP!!

If your moving that equipment for a job, then charge more for having to go back and get the rest of your equipment. Its just that simple.

Yeah, u can pull it, but can you stop it? SAFELY? Those are everyone's familly and friends out there, and hauling that much weight knowingly, and putting EVERYONE around's life at risk is just plain intolerable.

I love hearing this, "oh yeah ive hauled 20000 Lbs on my truck, it was fine!"
Its like a contest, or I got one up on ya story. It aint funny, no one cares, and everyone thinks its stupid. You guys need to use some brains here.

Sorry, things like this irritate me, thats my son and familly out there, n people that just dont care have no need for a license.

Cowboycustoms, yes we can all see that you are young by making assumptions about people you know little about. Now, my partners F550 broke down while pulling that trailer, so I didn't pull it to brag or impress anyone, and wouldn't do it again except in emergency. As far as stopping ability, that trailer has 8 wheels, is a few months old and has new brakes. If you know anything about the hills around Monteagle,TN I was able to keep the truck at 55 the whole way down. By the way, I (and probably others who read your post) define stupid as insulting guys you may need advice from in the future.

For anybody not familiar with Monteagle it's a 3 mile 6% grade . The recommended speed for loaded tractor trailers is 25 -35 m.p.h. . Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're a fool than to open it have have them know you're one .
