My wife and I drove from Dallas, TX to Temecula, CA in exactly 24 hours (and closer to 1500 miles as I recall) a few years ago, but we were in a BMW car, not our truck and trailer which would take far longer. And that was done by taking advantage of the BMW's high speed capabilities at times too. We were absolutely beat at the end of the trip; I don't think we could have turned right around and done it again.

Also, good luck getting out of SoCal on I-10 on a Friday night. It'll take you half the night just to fight your way through traffic to Palm Springs! You'll have the same problem trying to get back into town on Sunday evening too. My suggestion would be to not attempt this. Can't you take a vacation day and make it a 3-day weekend? That might be more do-able.

Good luck on whatever you decide!

Last month I picked up a trailer in Houston for a friend, I Left So Cal Friday morning 5am and made it to Ozona Tx. at 11pm to rest for the night, arrived in Houston at noon hooked up drove until about 11pm rested in the trailer till 6am and arrived in Lake Havasu by noon Sunday.
On the way down I made it all the way to El Paso before my first fuel stop and had a bit over a quarter tank when I hit Houston, now on the way back doing 75 thru Texas, New Mexico and Arizona it used 3 3/4 tanks of fuel. I have a 60gal Aero midship tank.

My longest haul was from Anchorage AK to Knoxville IA with a stop in Surrey BC( JUST across the US border) at about 2300 mi. We left Anc. at 1 pm. friday and got to Surrey about 11 am sunday! I had myself and another driver, one of us slept in the back seat while the other drove. We only stopped for fuel, all the potty / food breaks were done while the truck was filling with fuel! We got a hotel for the night (so I could stop @ PDR monday morning) and we were back on the road by 10 am. We made it to Knoxville, IA on tuesday afternoon (6 pm) for a total of 4200 miles in 78 hours Drive time and a total of 101 hrs. That was Pure torture! I really don't want to ever do that again!

It can be done! I have done it several time!! Do a lot of your driving at night that way the drive in West Texas isn't so boring!! Plus most of the time you can push the speed limit a tad because there is nobody on the road!! Take an XM raidio along and you will be fine!!

Try "working" the internet a bit for the trailers you are looking for.

Ask for dealer refs on the "RV.net" forums.

Know the MSRP price in advance for the trailer/s you want, as well
as the MSRP/s for all the options.
You should be able to get 30% (or better) off the MSRP/s.

Know exactly what options you want - then start shopping.

If a "distant" dealer offers you a trlr at a good price (in writing),
"shop it" around to other -more local- dealers.
I am sure you can find what you want closer than TX -
probably for the same price . . .or at least real close.

There is a Jayco dealer in Northern CA, Riverside CA, and Nevada.
Also, a second Jayco (TT's only) in San Bernardino.

Good luck,
JC

I wouldn't go blowing through West Texas on I10 in the middle of the night unless you want a deer or some other critter plastered to your grill.

No kidding, there must heve been at least 12-15 deer and about twice that amount in skunks all dead. Max speed thru west Tx. is 65 after sundown for all and 80 during the day (Autos)

It's not that bad out there! Just have to keep your eyes open and stay alert! I have traveled that way more times then I can count and have never hit a deer! You just have to watch the pack of deer on the side of the road to see how they respond! If one raises her head real fast and gets jumpy you better eat brakes!!

Be a tought trip if you drive across Texas, "the sun has riz, the sun has set, and we ain't of of Texas yet."

If you go for the Jayco in Anthony, TX it is a MP 0 on the TX-NM border.

What ever you do, be safe out there. Keep us posted.

My thoughts, not possible. Making this comment based on experience. I have driven from So. Cal. to Houston in a mid size sedan doing excessive speeding. Had a co pilot. Very physically demanding. Then to turn right around....lol. Forget it.

But yes, just be careful.

It can be done! Just depends on how hard core you are and if you know your body and how far you feel safe pushing your self!! It is only about 22 hrs from houston to long beach ca. You can do that is one solid push grab your camper and do it in a 3hr period for a turn around. Then push another 10 hrs heading back west then grab a 4hr power nap then hit the road again! That gives you one more 12 hr push to get back to cali. Gives you about a 51 hour run!

This can be done depending on what time you leave on friday and what time you have to be to work on monday! If you left on early early morn friday you could be back home on sunday early morning and crash out to be ready for monday!

Just depends on how crazy you are! It can be done I do it all the time! Then again I have run from New York city to Long beach Ca in 3 days so I am probably on the extreme side! My secret is, sunflower seeds to keep you busy, Xm radio, and

it's possible if you're determined I left barstow heading out accross I40 thursday before last at 6pm and was at the Georgia line at 2 am on saturday. that run was solo only stopping for fuel and I was pulling an empty trailer. However I used to be a profesional driver and I am very accustomed to the highway ( I didn't even cary a map ) I was also getting paid to deliver this truck and trailer and flying back. it was just over 2100 miles .
I would think you should be able to make it with 2 drivers no problem.

P.S. I will be doing the La to Atlanta run again this weekend will update you guys

Yeah I second the not carryin a map!! Pretty funny we can criss cross this great country of ours and not use a map and others haven't ever been out of the state they live in!!

The flight back is always funny!! I have done that where I have flown from houston to atlanta and gotten there in under 5hrs even with delays and grab the truck to drive back and take me 16 hours or so!!

Need to offer rv and auto transport via air!!
