It can be done with the right co-driver..... Just filler up with fuel >>>put on a adult diaper and hit the road...

It would be a heck of a story at work on Monday!

Just drove from western Colorado to L.A. and picked up a 5er, left Friday A.M. around 11A.M. spent the night in Utah, in L.A. Sat P.M. hooked up and back home Sunday afternoon was only about 1800 miles round trip though with lots of coffee. not sure you can pull it off dealing with a dealer though? lots of paperwork.

Yeah, but they don't carry the one I want. But RVDirect.com has the Jayco I want. Problem is I have to pick it up in New York or pay almost $4,000 to have it delivered! That $4,000 delivery fee negates any savings If I lived on the wrong coast it would work great.

Yes, it is possible..Yes, it sucks immensely. I have done it twice. Sacramento to Dallas, Texas in 24 hours 18 minutes. Two very irritable drivers, stopping only for gas, and did not shut the truck off once. I will never, never, never, ever, do it again.

My opinion take it for what's is worth. You need proper time for a PDI inspection for the trailer. This, if it's a quality dealer can take more than 4 hours. You want to touch every part of the TT, work every part and "if" there is a problem you need to allow time for the dealer to make it right. Spend a night in the trailer and dump the tanks before leaving, use the cg water and make sure both tanks are full before dumping. Trying to get a local dealer to fix your new TT that you didn't buy from them puts you at the bottom of their list so don't expect anything fast.

The drive is doable but I'd get a copilot and plan some time at the dealer. Is this a 5er or bumper pull. If bumper pull have you considered a WD and Anti sway. I know what everyone is saying I have a diesel truck and don't need any but you really get a better ride with a quality setup. Reese, Equalizer or the like.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, 2500Ram. I understand the risk of rushing through a PDI but this isn't my first RV, and I feel I can get by with a quicker than usual inspection.

The units I'm looking at are all 5th wheels, so WD and antisway don't come into play.

Yeah, I've seen those and they have some in Corona I have seen also. But the guy in Corona is trying to sell me a $66,000 MSRP coach for $60,000! I won't pay him more than mid $40,000s for that place is out.

If you are going close to Houston, it will be an all-day drive to Houston once you cross the Texas state line. Also, if they are installing a hitch and brake control, that will take several hours, and may not be able to get it done on a Saturday. That would be quite a trip.

Hitch and brake controller will be installed. The brake controller I already have - I currently own a travel trailer. And UPS just dropped off my B&W Turnover Ball a couple minutes ago. Still looking for the best price for the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch before I order. Once I know which unit I'm buying I'll order 5th Airborne's Sidewinder to complete the setup.

This is all kind of a moot point anyway because it doesn't look like a feasible idea. If I do make the trip I will take a couple days off work to do it.

Thanks all for the feedback!

Its possible for sure, just be careful, have a buddy to keep you awake
Stop, rest and get out every so often, even if it kills some time, but its doable....
