camper TV antenna leaking, Help!

Hello fello campers. I have a 3 year old camper with a roll out TV antenna. They come perty standard on all campers. It was leaking last year, and I took it to the dealer. They re-sealed it and was all good. Now it's leaking again! > Anybody have any suggestions on what to do, or has anyone had this problem before? When it leakes, the water runs down the shaft that rolls the antenna up. It doesen't go anywhere else.

Thanks,

Scott

Check the boot on the wire going into the camper. Sometimes this comes loose and lets the water in. I used some electrical tape to make sure it don't come off again and to further seal this possible way for water to enter.

Scott,
That sounds like a seal on the antennae itself is leaking rather than a leak around the base. You might try the manufacturer to see if there is a replaceable seal on the unit.

I think that you will find an O-ring on the shaft.

If you have Winegard Antennae, there is an o-ring seal on the shaft. Remove the interior hardware and the and the antennae and shaft can be removed form the top to replace the o-ring.

Thanks folks. I've tried everything mentioned except for the o-ring. I will take a look at that. I've re-sealed the base and sealed where the antenna goes into the base. But I didn't reallize there is an o-ring in there. I will give a report if that was it. Thanks again!

Yep, ended up replacing the antenna. $175.00 later I hope it's fixed. Thanks again folks!
