Bent Trailer Rims/Wheels
Bent Trailer Rims/Wheels
In the past 30 days have had 2 flats to the point of needing to replace the tires. Both on the back axle (2 axle trailer), when the tire shop tries to balance-- the rims are bent-- the center of the rim is not parallel with the outside edges of the rim, have not hit anything or I would suck it up to ignorance and financially move on. Wondering what happens to a rim if it is overloaded. rims are rated for 3850 lbs on 7000 lb dexters. 3850 times 2 should work --right? Trailer weighs 9800 lbs empty. Went to trailer supplier and they are selling heavier trailers on same set up w/o problems. Axles are torsion type if it makes any difference to diagnosis. Trailer supplier was to call factory and try warranty but will only cover bad rims-- still have front axle I worry about having a problem. Does torque of the lugs cause a problem here --have been 110 lbs.<br>Holes in rim for lugs not worn, there are cracks in paint on recesed (sp) lip/ immediate edge outside of the holes for the lugs. Steel rims. Help anybody.
