belly bar

Any ideas on a belly bar tie down for a slide-in camper on a 2004 3500 srw? How did it mount? pics?
I'll be needing something beefy as some of it's use will be off road.
Thanks

Re:belly bar

I got mine at husky camper in Poco. It is the 4 piece set...two ends slide into the ends of the factory hitch( easy clamp & bolt on) and the two "L" shaped pieces bolt onto the frame midtruck. very easy to install except the drivers side bar is only 1" away from the side of the gastank. You'll need to drill 4 holes in your frame and the whole job should take about an hour. I'm very happy with mine, very strong and reliable so far.

Re:belly bar

Thanks for the reply, I have to check them out to see what they have. I'm not all that thrilled about drilling the frame though (middle of the truck, hydro formed frame, bla, bla, bla) I have been rolling around on the ground under the truck trying to figure something out. there really isn't a whole lot of options under there...

Re:belly bar

I made my own out of 2X2X1/8" HSS and a couple pieces of angle iron. The angle iron bolts to the framerails and the HSS bolts to the angle iron. To save my shins, I cut a foot off of the HSS on each side and bolted a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 piece of HSS inside the cut off pieces to make removable ends. The ends slide into the permanently mounted HSS and are held in with one horizontal bolt. Same concept for the back, I use longer pieces of HSS that slide into the hitch tube. The whole set-up is very solid. I held a piece of 2x4 behind the frame rails when I drilled them to keep the drill from breaking through and creating havoc. I'll try to get some pics of the setup and post them.
