bad trany = new truck

The other day as I was downshifting into 2nd and making a corner the transmission locked up and would not go into any gear (it was like the old column shifters stuck in 3rd and 2nd at the same time). After looking things over and pulling the top off the transmission. We found a lot of metal flakes in the oil and a lot of slack in the main shafts and after checking on the cost repairs (4300.00 new /rebuilt trans and 800.00 for clutch + labor) made the decision to trade the truck. So the reason for this post is if you are looking at a used CTD in the north Texas area PLEASE contact me before you buy. New 02 should be at the ******* on Monday after that I could give more details if anyone is interested. Also if this post is in the wrong area please feel free to move it.

How many miles were on your truck? $4300 seems like an awful lot for rebuilt tranny. ???

We made three calls and all three where within 200.00. I think that the reason for higher price is that the six speed has not been on the market that many years so there are not so many cores out there. Also to rebuild it was going to be about one or two weeks to take it apart, order parts, and reassemble. New trany would be quicker but more expense. 4300.00 was the average .
