You need to tell us more. I think all these trucks that are equipped with a tow package have a harness in the glove box to hook up the trailer brakes this is a no brainner on these dodges. All the popular brake controllers have instructions. Is this a 2500 or 1500 ram? is the load capacity of the truck within the Mfg guidelines for the trailer loaded out ? Does this truck have a tow pkg. If not is it an auto? if it is an auto and no tow pkg then how do you keep the trans cool? Also try one or the R.V. towing sites if you don't get your answer here. Good luck and fill in your sig so we can better help you.

This is NOT true, I have seen 3500 duallies w/o tow packages. I know that just doesn't make sense to me either, a 3500 dually w/o a tow package, hitch or anything
If I were a dealer I would not have allowed it on my lot

But as far as taken5875 problem without any info filled out about where you are and where she is we can only guess as to where to send her.

Tell her t go to a RV dealer if she doesn't trust anyone else. If not there then go to the local horse trailer dealer, they should be able install a hitch on her truck.
Whatever she does make sure they use the correct hitch for these new trucks, 98% of them don't require any welding because these trucks can't be welded due to the boxxed frame.

sorry I made it hard to help me but i'll do better next time. the truck is only a 1500 it has a tow package and the trailor is a 36' 3 horse and a dressing room she used to haul it with a 1500 360 5.9 not to to bad (on flat ground) I did list what type of hitch or i thought that's what it's called (goose neck) two inch ball mounted in the bed flips over when not in use. if that's not the proper name feel free to school me. thanks.

what is the gvwr of that trailer? and, what do you expect it to weigh when pulling it? i m not much into horses -but, i know those horse trailers can get quite heavy. when you stated 36' long, i felt a strange "pucker".
