Any good welding shops in OR?

Reason why, is I got this idea of having a shop modify my current cargo trailer bumper pull into a goose neck hitch. A bumper pull kinda sux on a 36' enclosed triple axle. We will prolly have to move by the end of the year Aug, so I think I found one shop, they need to look at the trailer, Also what do you guys think? Dont have the resources to buy another trailer, also this one pulls great. No reason other than making the whole setup a little more stable, is means the reason I want to do this. I want them to just put the hitch in front of the current front. After the move, I'll rebuild the front walls to enclose the goose neck part. Comments, concerns, smack on the back of the head????

A trailer repair shop could do that too.....besure the welder is a certified welder.....and they check alignment also after the gooseneck is in place other wise tire wear will be bad or the trailer will dog track

There are actually a couple of good shops in The Dalles... Iron Works as mentioned above, and there is a shop in the old mill district across from Big Jim's...

Anyway...

Off topic, kind of... Converting an enclosed pull trailer to goose neck and doing it right I would think would be a major job and expensive.

In the end, I think you might be better off selling your current trailer and buying a used goose neck...

Where is Big Jim's? I'm expecting to pay little bit. I know this isn't a $500 job. Really all I want is the hitch welded on. They dont even need to mess with the box of the trailer. Maybe have the hitch about 2' in front of the nose. I grossed around 22K one time pulling this trailer (with a 3/4 ton). Scary it was. Perfer not to do it again. If it is affordable, for it to be done right, I'll consider it. If not worse case I don't do it, But it is something I do want to look into. Thanks.

If you take exit 87 on I84, where the hwy 197 bridge meets, and turn south on the top of the ramp, you will come to a stop sign where if you turn left you will be on 197 south and if you turn right it will put you on E 2nd.

Turn right, and Big Jim's (burger place) is on your right a few hundred yards down. Across the street you will see a metal building with a bunch of steel spread out in front of it. I've seen some very nice welding that the guy has done, at a very reasonable price.

I'm not sure he would bite off this project or not, but he would be worth talking to if you come through the area.

If you were to continue west on E 2nd from where Big Jim's is, keep right at the exit 85 interchange to stay on 2nd street and you would enter a one way downtown grid. The Dalles Iron Works would be on your left a couple of blocks into the core area. They also have a good reputation.

Good luck with the project.
