I usually only look in the 3rd gen perf section but could not find any results,anyhow my wife and I are buying a travel trailer this weekend, hopefully. About 30' range and I realize that I'm gonna need some type of airbag(Don't want more springs).So what types /brands of airbags has everyone used ? Pros and Cons ? I only need the bags to level the truck out as we wil be carrying two quads on the deck plus the trailer.If you don't know what I mean look in my gallery and substitue the sleds for quads and put a 30' back there as well. We've done this type of towing before but now we are upgrading to a travel trailer instead of the tent trailer we have now.

Why don't you get the TT and a WD hitch with appropriate load bars, and then see if you really need air bags? You may not. I know that the 3Gs are a little more softly sprung, but my truck doesn't come close to needing air bags with 1000 lbs in the bed and another 1000 on the hitch, even before hooking up the load bars.

Firestone makes the bags that I think most everyone uses.

 

I use Airlift bags out back but only when my 3500 lb+ slide-in is in the bed..........If your tongue weight is 800 lbs+ then I would go with the WD hitch regardless of what is in the bed.........the bags will definately do what you are asking but if you exceed the tongue weight rating of your hitch, you are asking for trouble.........if the tongue weight is light, do the bags - having that adjustability is awesome.

 

I have the airlift/Ride rite air bags and they work great. with 50psi in the bags my 32' horse trailer doesn't even make the truck sit on the overload springs.

 

I think timbrens would be perfect for you. They don't come into play until the suspension squats about 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch. They made my dad's old truck incredibly stable with the camper and boat on.

How bad of an idea would it be for me to take out the overloads and camper springs, and just have the bags in there for when I tow, and have a less harsh ride for 90% of my driving, which is empty? The bags I'm looking at are 2500lbs rated each, so I would say they will hold...

My fiancee' can't deal with the ride of my truck (makes her carsick), and I've gotta do something, but don't have the $$$ for the kelderman system.

 

That is what I did on my 3500.......ditched the rough riding factory over loads and replaced them with the bags........When I drive around empty I don't have deal with the suspension smacking the over loads and jarring my brain.............You have the adjustabilty to support an additional 5000 lbs (the over loads don't even come close to this) and the smoother ride empty.......

 

Does anyone know how a weight distibuting hitch will work with air bags?

 

It works great.......I use a WD hitch when I tow my Jeep with the slide-in.........I'm grossing 19,300 lbs combined........the WD hitch is must for me when the slide-in is on the back........
