Question Air bag compressor location 3rd gen

Looking for ideas on where to mount the compressor for the airbags. Is it better where it wont get hit with water and mud? There doesn't seem to be alot of room under the hood. How much air does it really need to run correctly? Oh ya, and how about air guage mounting locations in the '06's, anybody got any pics? Thanks.

This comes up from time to time and I keep meaning to get a pic of mine but never seem to remember. Mine is under the hood on the pass side inner fender, I drilled and tapped a bracket that the hood hinge is mounted to, it's a great spot. Dry and out of the way, cools well and it's quiet in the cab. I'll try to get a pic when I get home tomorrow if I remember, no promises though.

Also you will want to run seperate lines to the bags and do dual gauges. The reason is the instructions say to run 1 line and when cornering the uphill bag will deflat and the the downhill will increase which causes body roll which is what you want to eliminate. I diden't do the compressor, but I am sure you could make it work

I put mine in the lower compartment between the front seats. When filling the bags it draws clean air from inside the truck and is easy to install with the guage. Don't need to adjust the bags very often, so its not a hassel to open the compartment. Air lines go through the floor and 12 volt is taken from the lead under the seat.

Where did you go through the floor at? Was it through one of the pop outs?

Drilled a hole in the floor inside the seat box, and it came out above the transmission. Protect the red tube from being cut on the hole you drill and it works just fine.

Wanted to bring this back and ask where ya'll are putting your tanks? Ya, can you believe I started this thread back in July and I still have not done anything yet! I'd like to use a tank now but man I can't find a spot I like to mount it. Might have to make a custom braket to mount to the frame. Still on the fence about where to put the compressor......probably in the cab somewhere. Thanks.

Put both of my compressors in a custom sheet metal box (8" x 8" x 20") on the inside frame rail under the drivers seat. Special brackets to mount to frame (no drill). Ran 1/2" id plastic tube inside the frame rail to the front of rig and then up to my relays by the battery. All wiring inside of tube for protection. Seperate compressor, lines, and switches for each side. Used dual needle gauge in cab. Have not mounted gauge as yet, waiting for arrival of four more gauges so I can put all in one bracket. Probably will mount above "junk tray" by transfer case shifter. Not the handiest to see but not too many options without blocking needed viewing areas.
Also ran all camper wiring, from relays near left side battery, inside of frame rail all the way to rear for protection from anything and everything.
