Adding extra overload springs?
On an old gasser w250 i put a set of custom overloads on. Are you talking about a second set of overloads? The overloads on this truck consisted of a rear leaf pack from a different truck. I mounted them with a block over the exsisting pack and then made brackets on the frame. They hold the road sander fully loaded without a problem.
I drove one that had extra leaves on it but were not setup as overloads... they were setup as all active springs. 13 leaves in the pack and ill tell you that it felt like it had a rigid suspension....
I have seen it done as extra overloads too. Either way it can be done but ride quality will change based on the way its set up.

yes, to a 2002 2500 with camper package. The springs that come on the trucks are (sp?) parabolic, meaning VERY expensive to add to, so I removed the factory overload and added a 5k lb pack. Problem is they dont engage quick enough for me. With camper on truck, only the back of the pack is hard engaged. Really need to add about a 3/8" spacer under the overload pack. If I had to do it again, would have looked for overloads off of a 1 ton in junkyard. Older ones had two leafs not the singles.
good luck,

I put Duratough overload springs on mine. There are 6 extra leafs per side, and work well for me. No drilling, just bolt on. You can adjust when the springs hit the stops too. I think they are heavier than the stock springs. I like them a lot. There is a pic or two in my gallery.
I had a 1996 1-ton dually, pulling a 34-foot Alpenlite 5th Wheel. It squatted it to where my mud flaps would touch the gound. I added one leaf on each rear springs, and it lifted the truck up just right. The ride was a little stiffer, but not bad.
