5th Wheel Questions
Need a little help:
I have 2 quotes on the following Hitches and I am not sure on my choice:
Curt Q5 20K Slider installed for $850
http://www.bageco.com/5thcurtq5.htm
Reese 16K Slider installed $1000
http://www.reese-hitches.com/16k_slider5thwheel.htm
I do not know much about the "new" Curt Q5 hitch; it is a great price with good features, as it is new.
I do not understand what they mean by "Self-aligning head for easy hook ups" is this the 4 way pivoting head?
Anyone used this hitch or heard anyfeedback ?
I am also ready to install an Air Lift, my choices are the Firestone "Ride Rite" or the Air Lift Superduty, any feedback on which one is the better.

I have the reese hitch. You do have to level it (front to back) before you back up to the pin, and sometimes it does flop over before you get to the pin, making you get out of the cab again. Keep the slider rollers lubed or they don't slide. I have the firestone ride rites under my truck (with the in-cab controller), empty they can change the rear end height as much as three inches which can be useful if the trailer is backed in, uphill. You can back in under the trailers level line and lift the back end up to it, keeping the pin lined up better while you back into it. The ride rites are well hidden, and my truck looks very stock with all of the stuff I have on it, save for the exhaust. I'm gonna say go with the Reese, they are everywhere in North America, and I've never heard of Curt. That's just me of though, sheltered way up here, in the cold. Hehehehe Reese has been around for a lot of years now. I remember my dad buying them when I was a kid so it could just be that too. You do have to allow for the unit's weight as well though so get what you need. (I'm fairly certain I've seen the reese hitches up to and over 20K)
Have you looked at the Pullrite?? I have one and really like the locking mechanism - their main selling point. It does make a difference with the "clunking" when you start/stop and hitting expansion gaps. They also have 20k+ 5th wheel.
