19.5 ALCOA wheels

If ALCOA made 19.5" wheels for our SRW trucks would you like a set for your truck?

Do you really want a cast wheel from China?

And why wouldn't they be interested in making a 19.5 single since there are only 2 companies that offer these?

Not enough market share to justify the expense of making the wheel. At best they could only turn maybe a couple of thousand a year. This does not justify the tooling, engineering, and production line time. Besides you would be looking at a $250-$400 wheel.

$250 - $400 sounds cheap to me for a wheel like that. I would buy 5 at that kind of price. What would be the big deal with taking a 19.5 " wheel that they already make and putting holes in it to fit our 8 x 6.5 pattern. They already make wheels for Ford at a smaller diameter.

Rickson got $495 a wheel for their Classic original forged wheel.

Yeah I figure if ALCOA made them they would be double that $250 - $400 price.
Don't know about ALCOA but I work for one of the largest corporations in the world and we would be happy with just about any size order right about now.

Tooling cost money. They would loose more than they would make. Rickson has a nice niche market, but their is not room for much more than that. Even they have reduced their wheel offerings looking at all the lines crossing through wheels they used to make.

Isn't Alcoa owned by Ford?

Any of the Dodge single wheels will work on the first gen. The only exception is you better know your stud size, references get tricky past 94'. Alcoa is not owned by Ford. Alcoa produces wheels for Dodge, GM, Ford and others. Ford used them on their trucks longer than anyone else, until they moved their wheels offshore. Alcoa is a large company, they did have layoffs, but not in their wheel division.
