12 volt battery
Just installed second 12 volt battery next to the orginal one, in my fifth wh. Put plus to plus and minus to minus, so it will stay at 12 volts. My question is can I put the hot wire on the plus post on one battery, and the ground wire on the minus post of the other battery. I have two short battery wires conecting the plus and minus together. also will the charger in the converter charge both batterys with this hook up.

i doubt if you can get away with puting a new battery in parallel with an old one, the charger will try to charge the weaker thereby cooking the newer, this is usually the way it works in my world anyway. good luck

You should have two new 12 volt batteries, although it's not absolutely necessary. The weaker battery will drag down the efficiency of the other.
A better set-up (which I just added to my toy hauler) is two 6 volt batteries connected in series. This set-up has been proven to last 5 days + dry camping without recharging.

12 volt batterys
Waam here again. I agree with 2003ram. I had two 6 volts batterys in my last fiver and I to could dry camp for five days. I bought a 29GR Laredo with two slides. I will use these two 12 volts till next spring. We go to Florida in the winter for three months and then I'll be pluged in. With two slides and a frig. with a fan to cool the coils, one battery goes down over night when we are dry camping. If I can get by tell Dec. I'll be all right. Frig is in one slide, therfore no roof vent for the heat to get out. So they put a fan in there to blow the heat out a side vent. The hotter it is outside, the more the fan runs. I will put two sixes in next spring, and start looking for a good solar panel. Iam told that set up works also for keeping the batterys charged or topped off. Thanks for all the replys.
