Why? Business Advertisement! READ THIS!
i dont want to **** anyone off but i have a comment i would like to add about the buisness in the forums. If someone asks where to get the best deal on a part i think we should be able to tell where i have had good experiances and bad experiances. if a business does not want to have anyone talk about them bad, then they shoud do nothing to cause it. If i ask someone where the best place to get something is i want them to tell me the best place to get something. I understand that payed advertisers have the rights to advertise, and they pay to get the large banner at the top, which is the first thing you see when you log in. Again i'm not trying to start troble just voicing my opinion. Wes

I was disappointed that the "box" thread was killed...
If that was considered a blatant advertisement, then why isn't drawson's Pier's HX-55 thread considered "blatant" as well? ???
I thought found both threads to be VERY pertinent & informative! ;D

**I hope that by bringing this back to the forum board, it will address some of the concerns that members have brought up recently.**
Firstly, remember that this website is growing by leaps and bounds and we have to make changes as we grow. The Administrators and Moderators are all volunteers who live all over the US and Canada. We also have our everyday jobs and lives to get through too. Sometimes, this makes it necessary to move topics/threads off of the viewable forum pages until the entire Staff has a chance to discuss how we will deal with them. Please bear with us as we continue to work out new solutions to new problems and hopefully find a common ground fairness for all involved.
Thanks,
Dennis and the DTR Staff
Wes,
We (the DTR Staff) have had discussions concerning some of these topics. We
all agree that sharing information on products and services is very
helpful to everyone. We are still trying to find a "middle ground" that
will be fair to everyone, which means advertisers and members.
However, when you state "if a business does not want to have anyone
talk about them bad, then they should do nothing to cause it.",,,,,
this leaves way too much room for anyone to start slamming a business
based on their own opinion. This is something that we can’t allow on the forum because of the legal ramifications this may cause for the poster and/or the website. Not to mention, a person could post false information about a business based on his or her side of the story.
This doesn’t mean we can’t share a bad experience concerning a business, it just means we can’t post their business name on the forums. All you need to do is tell people to PM you if they want the name. This way, anyone interested can get the information from you and nobody can get sued for liable.
* Below are some of the guidelines that the DTR Staff would like see our members follow.
POSTING – It’s OK to post information about products, and provide links to the vendor of that product, as long as the person posting isn't the vendor trying to advertise a sale. Advertisers may not do this either.
NO cheerleading (I think everyone knows what the term cheerleading refers to.)
SIGNATURES - No advertising in sigs, no links to commercial vendors in sigs unless that vendor is a paid advertiser and only the advertiser can put that link in their sig.
No thank you to so and so (Vendor names) will be allowed in sigs for products provided.
No sponsorship information will be allowed in sigs.

Muddy, this will never happen, so there is no use in continuing to bring it up. For one, I find the term you state above annoying and childish. I find that people who use those terms are the same ones who have issues with getting their point across intelligently. I'm curious why you seemed to understand all of this on the phone when I talked to you, yet you come back on the board and still have an issue with it. All indications were that you agreed with what I was telling you. I guess that's not the case now. I find this interesting since there was absolutely no indication of dissent on this issue during our telephone conversation. You pretty much agreed with everything I said according to your responses at that time.
I'm not going to put myself or this site in a position in which we might be vulnurable to litigation. I've explained this to you on the telephone and you indicated that you understood. That said, what is your issue with it now? Let me be clear. Having such a page will NEVER happen on this site, and the term you speak of will never be allowed back on this site either. For someone to have an intelligent argument or conversation about a dealership, the term shouldn't be needed anyway. Like it or not, this is not a place where free speech applies. We work hard to make everyone happy, but there will always be some who don't understand, or who can't understand. There will always be those who complain without providing any kind of feedback for improvement, and there will always be those who don't appreciate what's been provided to them for free.
What are you talking about? The last thing I get from removing posts are "jollies". As a matter of fact, I hate deleting posts. Mainly because that means there is someone who's not following the rules of this site, thereby disrespecting the members and the wishes of the staff of this site. It means that someone doesn't understand the rules, or they just don't care. It means that the quality of this site can be in jeopardy if allowed to continue.
I'll add on to this, and say that I want to see what respectful and intelligent people have to say.

Rattlinram,
i apreciate you replacing my post as i wanted to here other opinions on this issue. As to the business treating someone wrong, i hope no one here would lie about a dealer and badmouth them without experiance, but you know as well as i do that there is someone always out there that will. I appreaciate you replacing this post and hope to get more input on this topic. Thanks Wes

I have been on both sides. Sometimes I would get out of line on the other site :
, and get my hands slapped by moderators.

I have had to do that once or twice here since becoming a moderator. There was no fun in doing it. I know how easy it is to get wound up about something and make a hasty post without thinking. Sometimes we make mistakes. The best way to avoid these are with good inteligent communication.

Re:Why? Business Advertisement! READ THIS!
Wes,
I think you have a point! If I were looking for the best deal, I would want to go to the right place. Sometimes people just like to stir things up and talk bad about others because they didn't do what one wanted. It's all silly if ya ask me! Some people just act like children instead of grown men!
