Very strange problems trying to upload pics...

When I follow these directions:

Click on "member photos", then click where it says "upload pictures"

there simply isn't a box thats says "upload photos". Even when logged in.

Then I found this quote:

"Just a note, until I disabled my firewall, the term Upload Photos was not visible. I disabled it and immediately like magic the words were visible."

I use zonealarm as a firewall, I have to disable it for some sites or functions, so I am used to this. But with the firewall off, the box "upload" still doesn't appear. I also cleared the cache/temp files and tried again, no dice.

Any advice would be great, I really want to start a gallery.

Oh, I have no trouble attaching a pic to a post (I know how to resize), just can't seem to start a gallery.

After the two steps you described, you click on "browse" on the "Photo to upload - 500K file size limit" line and you can then find your file and click on it, then click "Upload photo" at the bottom of the page. Make sure you have made your photo small enough so you don't go through all the trouble only to have the computer tell you the file is too large...

Good Luck..

There is no box that says "photo to upload".

The only place I see that box is in this old post I found while searching:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/yabbse/gallery/

When I try to login, it takes me to the main page, then I login and go to member photos, the system won't recognize that I am logged in, and says "welcome guest".

It is the login that appears to be my problem. I can login once and navigate around, classified to the forums to the search feature and I stay logged in, but when I go to photos I have guest status.

Very frustrating, I have spent maybe ten hours working on this, and have read every back post I could find on this subject, I give up.

Wrong photo album. I don't know why you're going there. The gallery link at the top of every page should take you to the correct one.

Yes, definetely the wrong album, I just used that as an example of absolutely the only place on the forum that the words "upload photo" have ever appeared to me.

The link at the top of every page takes me to the gallery, it just refuses to recognize me as logged in.

The gallery appears to be simply unavailable to me.

Your security settings combined with firewall and or virus software is probably causing that.

It's even stranger yet? What's up with all the avatars and photos. On my computer they all say... "Hmmm, someone stole my bandwidth..." or something like that on a yellow background. I hope I'm not the only one seeing that. I could go .

If you have a firewall with too high security settings or your browser's security settings are too high, you will see that. It's a measure to prevent bandwidth stealing by disallowing other sites to pull our images. Some of our members like to post their images, and when they do, it costs me money. Once your settings are correct, it'll work fine.

I'm having the same problem too Hannibal.

Jack, I sent you another PM. Reducing the settings of the Norton Internet Security firewall only resolves it when it's disabled completely or set so low that doesn't do what I bought it to do.
Can you think of another solution?
Nat

Sorry, not at this time. You should have settings that allow it to receive all information from our site. If you cannot set it that way, then I cannot help you. Because of image and bandwidth stealing, I average about 350 dollars a quarter in extra bandwidth cost. That comes out of pocket, so for now it's going to stay.

Can't blame you there. I know for a fact that some other sites won't let members post JPEG's but will let you hi-jack photo's through URL's to other sites. Thanks for the explanation. I'll work on my settings. I use Norton Internet Security. It blocks some activity while browsing Dodge.com too. Can't view window stickers...

NIS has been the culprit for most people's problems here. I use ZoneAlarm and have had no issues as of yet.

Ah yes! Fixed another one! If you have Norton Internet Security, and you wish to view pics and avatars, you must go to privacy settings, advanced, and "permit" information about visited websites. This also fixes the problem of not being allowed to view window stickers at Dodge.com when you browse dealer inventory. I believe at worst, Jack might find out I was at "Obese Bikini Babes" for a spell before I logged into DTR!
But at least I won't have to suffer the embarrassment of being caught at the "other" diesel site.
