Also most of us very much like the fact that we can find the info on our trucks here without having to weed through all the flea market junk. We provide you guys with the free classifieds to help us keep the forum full of information and free from that kind of stuff.

Every once in awhile a guy sees something he wants to share like the original poster did, in theory it is a great idea. The problem is for every nice guy like him there are 100 creeps on the Internet just trying to flood any website they can find with their ads.

So the only way I have found to be fair to everyone is to make everyone follow the same rules and not post ads here to Ebay and Craigslist. It sucks sometimes but if you guys saw how many ads and spammers we remove before you get to see them, you would understand why we do it this way.

Dave said it right, if a guy is looking for something he has already checked out those places anyway or he has posted a want ad in the classifieds and you can PM him your find that way.

What Lary said. We have found over the years that many people will post an ad like that and make it look like they aren't the seller when they really are. They are just trying to skirt the rules and we don't allow it. It's those who've spoiled it for everyone else.

AMEN!

DTR is just fine the way it is. I really appreciate the fact that I can find whatever I'm looking for quickly without wading through erroneous stuff.

I don't know how it is in the other forums, I just hang out in the first gen section. I see how many people are in there, but when I want something, I have to go to another section...the classifieds...

Have you looked at the first gen classifieds? Are the other gen's a ghost town like that one is? The guys aren't using them, or do not know they exist.

Here is what I would like to see. When I click to see the new first gen posts, I would like to also see for sale and wanted included for that generation/section.

But removed from search.

Or maybe easier...post a link or button that would that show all new first gen posts by date, and ping the classified first gen as well.

Is that possible? Before you say no, go take a look at our first gen classifieds, and look at how many people are using the first gen forum. You say you want to stop a flea market...there is no flea market there. The classifieds are no flea market.

I wish I knew why more folks don't use the classifieds. As 1st gen regular, you've probably noticed that I push people in that direction several times a week.

I check 'em every day just to see if there's anything new. Probably 1 new ad per day. Not exactly hopping but not a ghost town. Maybe we ought to make them expire quicker, but then we'd get complaints from folks who have to repost stuff that didn't sell.

It would be pretty neat if there was a "New since last visit" button for the classifieds though.

That's funny cause you told me about it. I joined in 03 and didn't know that there was a classified section till early 2006.

Why is the classifieds not included in the main forum? So people could scroll down to First Gen All Topics...and then a child forum...1st gen classifieds.

Then we could see the little light light up when there was a new post.

Because the classified are completely separate from the forum. We did that on purpose.

The classifieds and the photos are on different servers, it takes multiple machines to run a forum of this magnitude.
