Site problem with new Firefox 3?

First off let me say I have spoken to Larry Ellis and he has no other reports of problems yet so maybe it is something I've done.

Just installed FireFox 3, the new Modzilla browser. Really like it and no problems other than this one. When I come to this site I can navigate thru the site till I try to see a specific post. When I try to open the individual post I gat a Javascript error. I have tried clearing cache, removing the program and re-installing it and a few other things. Java test shows Java enabled and OK.
I have been using Netscape 7.2 for quite some time and never a problem and FireFox is derived from this to some extent, at least the same group so can't believe thay did something to make it incompatable with any normal programs.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you found a cure.

Thanks for any assistance.

Don

Don, what is the specific post you are having problems with? Post the URL here so we can look at it.

No troubles here with FF3. But that sounds like the same behavior I get on my phone when trying to browse the site with Pocket IE.

If I try to open a specific topic this is the error I get.

"Sorry, you must have javascript enabled to view this site."

I can open the site, then I can open a specific topic but when I try to open a specific post then I get a blank page with the above error message at the top of the page. It is any and all posts, not jsut one. I don't think it is a problem with this site, but looking to find an answer to fix it so I can get rid of my Netscape. So far not had that problem with any other sites .... so maybe I just haven't used it enough to find the problem.

I have uninstalled Firefox and re-installed including hacking it out of the registry. I have re-installed the java add on twice.

All works well and has worked well with my Netscape 7.2 for the last few years so this surprised me. I did re-download the Firefox rc3 yesterday just to make sure I didn't have a problem with a corrupt file. Kinda pulling my hair out here and not finding any answers yet. I know it's probably something stupid but very frustrating.

I get that with my fire fox only seldom usually when my internet is moving slow because of Fair Access Policy so they shut my internet browsing speeds and prob some of the stuff off.

It can't be the speed of the connection. It works fine with IE & Netscape, just FireFox. Also it dosn't matter when, during high traffic or low, early am or late pm. Have tried all and still trying to find out if anyone else is having similuar problems with FireFox 3.

Again thanks for any replies.

There is a feature on the site that blocks anonymous proxies so that people who have been banned have a harder time getting into the site. It's a known issue with Safari, but it sounds like FF 3 might also be having an issue with the feature. Unfortunately, I'm not taking the feature away because we then have a security issue on the site. I would suggest contacting their support to see why it's happening and they might be able to lead you in the right direction. More reason for me to stick with FF 2 for now.

I use FF3 and have no problems with it on this site (or any other). I find it more stable in most cases than either IE or Netscape.

I would not want you to compromize(sp) the sites security. I can still use my Netscape, just trying to see if it is just me or if anyone else is having a like problem and if so is it a Firefox issue which I think it is, but just don't know if it is my install or what.

Thank you for the reply though.

I use Firefox 3.0 for Mac from time to time. Tried it with a few threads here with no issues.

Thanks AggieJustin. That was waht I was looking for. As I said above I can enter the site, then enter a topic, just can't enter a specific item. Now to see what I have set wrong or what isn't loaded correctly.

Thanks for the help all.

If you want to compare any settings, let me know.

I just did the download of FF3 and ran it as an upgrade to FF2. Didn't do any customization on the new version, took the settings it gave me. Only add-on that I'm running is AdBlock Plus 0.7.5.5

Need to find a good proxy switching add-on so that I can switch over to the work proxy when I'm on our VPN.

Mine was a clean install of FF3 RC3 which ended up being the final release per the web site. I did not have an upgrade from FF2 so don't know what might be different. I have 4 add ons including the Java addon, Quick time add on and the Flash and Shockwave plug ins also. I have tried removing them but to no avail unless they aren't fully unloading. As above removed FF3 and Java and re-downloaded it and re-installed it but no difference. Thanks for the thoughts though. Wondering if the FF3 made some type of difference, a possibility though. Think I will try it on my laptop later and see what happens there. If OK then that rules out program problem although laptop also has Netscape on it. Will take a few days to get time for that.

Again thanks....
