Site problem...

I have been having trouble with the site the last week or so , the very first time i go to the site every day , it causes some sort of error with firefox, which makes it close , and i have to restart, once i do that , the site works flawlessly all day.

I have the newest version of firefox, i haven't changed any settings that i know about. Other than a little bit of maintenance on my system (virus scan , defrag , etc which was done after the problem started) i have not changed anything.

what else can i check/do? I don't think it is a problem with my Lan , or my internet service or anything , as i have no troubles with my laptop.

I'm not sure. I use Firefox all the time and have never seen that issue.

I also have the "latest and greatest" version of Firefox and all I can say is "I ain't impressed". I have had my computer tell me that Firefox is running even though it wasn't. I have had my computer freeze with it too. It didn't used to do that so you are not alone.

I've been running firefox 1.5 since it came out. I've had no issues whatsoever. i find the site super fast, and with the tweaks I put in, i find other sites just as fast most of the time. I've found it reliable and quite impressive. im not sure why you guys are having issues but my experience with it has been awesome.

I too have the newest version of FireFox and yes, it seems to be more buggy than its predecessor.
I have not noticed it causing the PC to hang or any problems opening DTR, but I do notice that it seems to consume large amount of RAM and stays as a running process even after you closed it.
I like FireFox and Im willing to put up with its inadequacies... for now.

Rich.

If your using Windows, open the Task-Manager and you can kill the FireFox.exe process (if one is present). Then try to re-open FireFox.

Also check to make sure your browser options are set to always load the freshest (newest) page. I don't know why but sometimes that gets changed on it's own and will cause log in issues.

Rich, I have tried that every time it said Firefox was running but the box was empty. The only way I found around that problem is to re-boot. My #10s are getting sore though.

I haven't had any problems with Firefox 1.5 either. This install imported all my IE bookmarks, whereas the last version of FF I had did not.

I think it would help if folks posting computer problems/issues would fill out a "signature block" with what they're running. Most importantly Operating System and any service packs and amount of Ram.

BTW, I run FF 1.5 on 2 Win2k machines (768? MB Ram); and 2 XP machines, SP 1 on one and SP2 on another; both of them have 1GB of Ram.

It wont show in the "Applications" tab. Look under the "Processes" tab. You can sort it by "Image Name"... or by "Memory".
Right Click FireFox and then "End Task"

Jack,
I too run FF 1.5 and find it quite good. BTW, what tweaks have you done to make it faster? I'd be interested to know.
Thanks,
Steve

Check this out...

http://codebetter.com/blogs/darrell..../28/48720.aspx

I did these changes and noticed quite a difference in speed. It also works much better when using my wireless edge card which only gets about 150-160k while mobile. Firefox will load a page about 10 seconds faster than IE. A while back, i implemented zlib compression on the site, and also implemented squid caching for static content such as images etc. When i did that, it dropped the load on the server over 50%. Of course, with the server we have now, the load is still only around 0.10 even with 900-1000 people online.

All this clicking on this and clicking on that and checking this and that.

A George Foreman Grill is a lot easier...plug it in, set yer temp, cook, eat, surf, sleep. And no abs either.
No fussy clicking preferences or choosing gateways or resetting the clock.
