Hoss, I believe this was changed so that the first time you post in a thread the signature shows up but in all your posts after that (in the same thread) the signature doesnt show up. Probably saves space and helps when you are printing a thread, as some do.

Also, when replying to a thread you can also manually turn off your signature using the little checkbox under the message.

Yep!
But it does have a little bit more authority coming from someone with a user name as
Jack Thorpe
Chief Executive Officer

compared to

Dr. Evil
registered ......

I for one appreciate the WYSIWYG interface along with the automatic signature deletions.

I think Jack is being overly generous with 500 characters. I subscribe to the old school thinking where sigs shouldn't overpower a post and should be no longer than 2 lines max.

I agree with you, Tom. I hate the long signatures, and slowly have been lowering the amount of characters allow. You can look forward to even shorter sigs in the future.

You could lose a third of your signature and still provide members with everything they need to know about your truck...probably even half.

I agree..

Here is how I see the sig keeping everything that a person needs to help diagnose a problem;

2002.5 2500 4x4 Sport. 24v Cummins Turbo Diesel 4:10 gears, Bright Silver Metallic. Quad cab, 6.5ft box. 47RE HD Auto Trans. Trailer Tow Pkg, SLT interior, Clearance Lites. Liner, Issopro FP, EGT & Boost Gauges, ....

The rest is just filler and not needed for diagnostics, However I would add the comp box and Scotty II once you actually install the stuff.

Not only that, but abbreviating words is helpful too.

Like this...

2002.5 2500 4x4 Sport, 24V CTD, 4:10 LS, Silver, QC, SB, 47RE, Tow Pkg, SLT, blah, blah, blah

Of course, I'm one to talk. My signature is as long as anyone else's. That being said, I'm not the one complaining about being limited to 500 characters.

Speaking of abbreviating, does anyone else find it odd that the word abbreviate is such a long word??
