new chat

Guys I've added a new chat system that is close to the facebook style chat. I need you guys to test it out tomorrow. I have to work but I will be home at 5 Eastern. If you could point out any bugs, I would appreciate it. There is private IM and a chatroom. I know you can figure it out and let me know

Thanks all...

...and keep in mind that you can chat in rooms. It's not just for Instant messaging. See attached image for detail...

Anybody who has not played with it yet, you owe it to yourself to try.

Go into "Who's Online" and click on somebody you know. You'll have a lot of fun!

You can't turn it completely off but you can make it so you're offline. That way no one will message you.

Well, had to turn it off for now until I can find a way for it to use less resources. It's killing the servers here, taking 10 times the amount of queries as the forum itself. Not good.

No problem. It's kind of a bummer though because I think that chat program has a lot of potential if I can knock the server load down.

I agree. I'm not done trying to get it working without killing the site. I'm hoping we'll be able to bring it back.

I'm thinking back to when i had programming and web design... isn't there a way to have it refresh its self more often and dump stored information(chat logs)? I also remember the more rules added to a program the more unstable it became. This was awhile ago and i have forgotten a lot. I was better at lugging the computer down than i was at speeding it up :-P
