? for moderators

I only check out this site about 1 time per week, noticed about 1 month ago my post count went down by almost half. Did not really care but did notice it. Criusing around the site today I see another member with the same user name as mine. He is from Cincinatti and I am from New River, Az. What gives? Do you allow users to have the same names, could be confusing? Honestly, I would like to change my user name anyways, and perhaps this would be the opportunity to do so.
Thanks for any reply.

No. There are rules set up that prevent two users from having the same name.
I looked through the database and found you "Horse Hauler" and I found a member named "HorseHauler".

The difference being the spacing in your names.

Some while ago, Jack configured this site so any posts made in the "Other" forum do not go towards your total post count.
Any posts you had in that section were removed from your total post count, thus reducing the count.

No problem,
If I wanted to change my name, do I simply re-register/join as a new member? Do I need to cancel existing membership?
Thanks for the prompt reply.

Yes, I believe that is the cleanest way to do this.
Send a PM to Lary and verify this before you do anything, but I think the best way is to register with a new user name, and have Lary remove your old user name.

Thanks.

Should be easy enough for one of the admins to whip into the Admin Panel and do the change for the user, as long as it doesn't become a common thing.

Gotta realize the combined brain power of the moderators here wouldn't power an ashtray light.
