Logging in question?

If I am logged in and then I navigate my browser away from this site to another site without logging out, do I still show up as "logged in" on the "currently active users" list?

Just curious

The old software used to be that way,,,,, I don't know what the new stuff does.
I never stay logged in on the work computer unless I'm viewing. (Keeps someone from playing Admin while I'm out of the office,,,,, That would be a BAD thing!) My home computer stays logged on all the time (dial-up) and I would know when my daughter was checking her email because I would see that I was showing on the Active List before I logged on at work. The daughter doesn't live here anymore and the wife won't touch the puter, so I don't know if the new software acts the same or not. Maybe Jack can tell us.

It will only show you logged on here when you are on the site you can leave and then come back, and the site recognizes you because of the cookie we place in your system.

Sorry no chocolate chip cookies available

Lary,
I opened up my PC and I don't see any cookie. There are quite a few crumbs in my keyboard though, perhaps somebody got to it before me. Or is it in the monitor?

You still show up as logged in for the duration of the cookie (usually around an hour or so). Same thing for 3.5. You can tell if someone is gone when you look at the Active User's Link. If it's 2:19 and the last activity is 1:30 for someone, you can pretty much assume they're not around.

In order to be shown as no longer on the site when you depart, you need to log out.
