Exclamation I thought this forum board was for EMERGENCIES (moved from "HELP!")

People are less likely to come in here and offer help if it turns out most of the threads are about the ash tray won't fit (for example).

What's going on folks?

David:

You are right, it is supposed to be for just EMERGENCIES! We will try to keep a closer eye on it, but thanks for the "Reported Post" on the guy asking a question relating to the 12V Section. I went ahead and moved that.

Thanks you.

David, we see this a LOT, guys think they will get a faster reply by posting their non emergency stuff here. In reality I think it actually works the other way around as you stated.

For the quickest reply to a problem, it is always best to post in the forum that is most specific to the problem area.

For example, you drive a 97 2500 and you have a noise in your drive train, then you want the 12 valve Engine and drivetrain thread. If you have a 2004 3500 and the door leaks, you want 3rd Gen non-drivetrain thread.

There will always be those individuals that think every noise and vibration is an emergency, in which case, it will still end up here.

Agreed. Their lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on our part. I just like saying that...especially to folks here at work.

In my former line of work it ALWAYS did because when the Captain of a big jet doesn't plan something I always ended up having to "fix" the results of the "non planned" event.

I'm just thinking of the fella stuck in the middle of nowhere with a truck that won't run, the kids are bored and crying, and Momma's just about had enough.

I confess I don't post in this board that much, I'm sorta lost if it's not a 1st Gen (non-electronic).

I went to the post office today looking a stamp. Being it was going on 3:00pm on the 15th of April, the place was packed with a VERY long line. Naturally the automated stamp machine was "Temporarily Out Of Service".

I mumbled something under my breath looking at the line and an elderly lady standing close by offered me a stamp. She would not take any money for it. She just handed it to me and went about her business smiling.

God's funny that way.

Either I did a good deed today, or something's on the horizon. I dunno . . . . . . just looking to return the favor.

If you have an EMERGENCY situation with your truck, or you need IMMEDIATE technical help, use this board. Seems like most people need Immediate technical help so they post in this section.... Immediate technical help is not the same as a emergency.... but both are allowed in this section.... correct?

I hate to ask as it may seem a bit blunt but is this an emergency? Just asking.

No, it's not. David made a good point though, the "HELP!" board does get used too much for non-emergency tech help. Now that there's a sticky over there to reiterate that forum's emergency status, I've moved this thread to the appropriate section.
