Sounds like you may be going to jolly ol' England. Is that your spending money while there? If so, you are going to have a really short vacation. Are you aware how much stuff, ie food, costs over there?

Yes it is expensive over there, I went in 02. I spent $1000 US dollars in 14 days. Spent 3 days in London, 3 in Paris, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Germany, and 2 in transit. Have fun across the pond.

Some things you remember: 1973 at Ft. Hood TX. Had some British guys doing some training with our Air Cav guys. One of our guys actually said “You guys speak pretty good American, can you say something in your language for me?” He was serious!

I was in the UK a couple weeks ago. everything except fuel will have about the same price tag as in the US. (a bottle of coke is 1.50), McDonalds combo meal will be about 5. A hotel will run you 50 and up.

Welcome to the UK, where are you going?

btw, if the travel agent trys to route you thru Charles DeGaul, Hit them. Go thru Amsterdam or into London. (I recommend Schiphol, its an easy airport to navigate)

Its been awhile since I have traveled that far but it seemed like using a credit card as much as possible was the way to go since it automatically does the current exchange rate. Could be wrong though.

credit card is good because you will get the exchange rate within a couple days of the purchase.
Cash has the advantage that if there is a currency price movement, you have a 50% chance of winning (that actually happens about 10% of the time). In reality, this movement is only a few cents.
