wow...new finds on my truck

started putting it back to stock today for the dealer to get my new vp-44 I HOPE, and discovered that its not a dead wire tap left hanging on the pump...there is still a banks ottomind attached to it. Which now also means that i have to figure out how to remove the ottomind and still have the truck run normally. I tried disconnecting the box...and the check engine light came on and it was in limp mode...NO POWER.

So i must figure out how to get this ottomind removed when the vp-44 goes in next week, and i must re-wire my guages so they will work without being hooked to the ottomind box.

i also will be selling the banks gauges and ottomind tuner when the new pump gets installed...i need the funds from those, the van aaken, and my stock rims to get a bigger turbo, new I/C boots, and a comp box.

no more mickey mouse banks toys...ive found the root of my issues and im going for the big stuff now

PS according to manufacturers HP and tq claims my truck shoul dbe right around 500hp and 1100tq at the crank if you add the claimed HP ratings...i can assure you that only about 370/800 is making it to the wheels so i need to get more air and more fuel into this baby and see what it will really do!

Doesn't it suck having to take everything off. I have to do the same thing to mine this weeked. Mine's going in for a new IP too. It's just a pain in the butt.

I've had warranty work done on my pickup 4 times, and the TST has been on the pickup since day one. I didn't tape the wire though. I used a blue chip pump cover so I could pull the box of when I go in for warranty work. Mines going in this week for a new IP.

im gonna fight like crazy for them to cover it because they sold me the truck this way. if they dont honor the warranty then my lawyer will go about it because i was told the truck went thur service and was told to be in top running order...and i even signed to transfer the cummins warranty.

so when the truck goes in...its gonna be a fight.

my truck will now smoke whenever i give any thrtolle when not in gear...and whenever going down hill at a steady rpm...the white smoke just pours out. should be a fun week at the dealer

After having DC trying to void my warranty for a fuel pressure gauge I'm all for deceiving them. Not to mention the fact that the banks box was on there before he even bought the truck and the dealer had looked over the truck and even signed the warranty over to him. I say it should be on them. It's not his fault they didn't see it.

i added an AFE intake, DD3 injectors, and a van aaken chip...the VA and AFE have been removed...the truck is going back close to the way i received it (not removing the injectors)

the truck has had the p0216 code since the day i bought it but i didnt know what it meant until maybe a month later and it was too late. the truck ran flawlessly for months...then over the winter it started to give me dead pedal maybe once a week after HOURS of driving

just recently did it start giving me the dead pedal on a daily basis no matter how long the drive...and its also giving me white smoke, and no power as its starves for fuel.

it goes back to the dealer to see if they are gonna replace it...if not then i will begin to fight the dealer who sold it to me and told me it was in that condition. its a common problem that happens all the time to STOCK trucks but i guess i caused it to go bad because i bought a modded truck and now i am gonna go to the dealer and trick them into fixing it because i have no integrity.

i guess if you decided to pull a nice heavy trailer with a STOCK truck and burned a piston you wouldnt feel bad getting cummins to rebuild the motor because its not your fault the truck got WAY too hot while pulling the trailer you hooked to?

Seems to me, the Dealers hold most of the cards. IMO, going in hot & heavy (or willing to get hot and heavy) is not the best plan. Dealerships are expirienced and expert at handling the rightously indignant, but many people find it hard to say no to "nice" people.

They do depend on and need warranty work to pay service overhead so they can "work" the system to help you.

I find, expecting nothing but politely asking for what I think is fair, and discussing why I feel that way, works very well. Kind of a Zen approach to dealer interaction.

I don't hide my mods....I don't think you can fool them anyway, with a 24v. I just discuss being a proud owner and a maintenance fanatic. I have gotten my fair share of free work done using this approach......but the key is....expecting nothing!

My issue is I am 20 and getting them to understand whats going on is going to be difficult. Hopefully my father will go with me to talk to the service man and see what can be done. I dont expect them to cover it but if i can get them to absorb half the cost because they sold it to me this way then I'll be very happy. I've been told that this particular dealership is pretty lenient with mods so all I can do is try. I know the general manager of sales and he would help me out but i doubt he can help in the service dept.

The 0216 code will tell the dealer that they will need to replace the IP. The over boost code will tell the dealership why the IP went out.

with the banks ottomind in there is think its gonna be next to impossible to prevent it from over boosting

If you clear the codes then drive it real easy ad keep it under 20psi of boost or so it shouldnt come back up should it?
