Will a single disc tc work for me?

After installing my DDP's and #6 plate in my 95, my tc now slips in OD if I get on it hard. I am looking at a simple shift kit/valve body workover and single disc convertor if I can get away with it. Intentions for the truck are daily driver, towing at roughly 17,500 gross with a gooseneck, and a pull or two at the local fairs. As far as power goes, it may get a set of 181's to clear up the bottom end miss, and some extra timing. If needed to keep things cool, I may build myself a 35/40, or go with an S300G. I honestly don't plan more than 300 hp. My only hesitation is the weight and extra strain for that single disc. Let me know your opinions. Thanks.

Single should be okay. Opt for a rebuild kit with extra clutch packs. Best thing to do is call one of the builders and tell them your needs and goals and they will suggest what will work best.

A good single disc from GB or DTT will hold ALOT if you have a good VB to go with it.

With enough pressure (a question of the seals and the valve body) single disks have held up to more than 800 rwhp. (But there were torn billet shafts etc at that level)
It depends IMO on how well it's built (TC cover warpage because of the studs ) and on a tranny that has virtually no internal leaks. If you've got internal leakage there will be low pressure on the lockup clutch and it will fry.
For your power level and configuration I would suggest the master update kit from DTT along with one of their TCs and VBs.
(This is from my personal experience, no intended badmouthing of other vendors)
If you talk to a vendor be very frank with what you intend to do and your driving style. This will enable the vendor to give you the correct setup.
With the old seals in your tranny you risk seal blowout when you just increase the pressure with a shift kit or a VB

Just my 2c

Well said Alpine!
With your goal of heavy towing and sled pulling, I would not mess with half measures.
Min = full replacement (or fully rebuilt) VB and a TC. As stated, the single disk will hold all you can throw at it... if backed up properly (as spelled out by Alpine.)

I would'nt be worried about seals blowing out with a good VB. Dave Goerend told me they run about 250psi stock in reverse, so the stock seals stand up to a lot of pressure anyways.
