Who's clutch are you using and why?
I have a SBC (Con OFE). Don't let anyone BS you. With a few power upgrades they are "not" smooth. I have 20,000 miles on mine and it jerks in forward and reverse. I was told by Peter himself that you have to increase the RPM's to make it stop jerking. That works fine for forward gears but not in reverse. I have to put mine in 4 low to back my 5th wheel. The SBC does hold extremely well, it's just the engagement that s***s. Much like the LUK clutches. Your choice 600+ for a clutch that is rough or 900+ for the same.

brandon.
I bought a used SBC Dual Disk (the lightest Dual disk he makes, I believe) from a member on the boards. I even called Peter to have him look at the pictures to see if there were any majors flaws with the clutch. I don't know of too many people that would tell you to buy a used product of theirs when they know they could sell you a new one and actually make money.
After I bought it, it sat on my floor for about a month, then out of the blue, I get an e-mail from Peter asking me if I could send him the input shaft that I had, and that he would send me a new one.
I know that when this one bites the dust (and it will, but is rebuildable
) I will be calling Peter up and having him work some magic on it!

I installed a 4" turbo back exhaust system on the truck Sat. We used a Walker/Dynomax downpipe and tailpipe and a 9' stick of straight 4" for the rest. I now have the noise to go with the smoke!
But, on the way home I had to slow down for a car turning in front of me and when I accelerated kind of hard back up to highway speed, the stupid stock clutch slips in 5th gear again!
"What the heck...?!?!" I only had the box on #1 setting!?! Did the exhaust make that much of a difference??? It never slipped on #1 before?!?
Anyway, the box is "off" until I get a clutch in it. You guys have pretty much talked me out of a LuK Pro Gold. That and one website says that the Pro Gold is good for 850 lb. ft. and another says that they are good for 600 lb. ft.??????? Uhhhh, that's a pretty large difference. More than I'm willing to gamble $350 bucks on. So, (gulp!) South Bend it is. But which one? I think that I'm done with mods on the truck. I feel confident that it will do everything that I want it to and more. I will not be hooking it to a sled, drag racing or anything like that. I will ocassionally pull a car on an open flat trailer (5000-6000 lbs.). Do you think that the MU 0090 Con. O will hold up to my combo okay? They are about twice the price of the LuK that I was looking at, but I only want to do this once. I have no idea how much power it is making so read my sig and take an educated guess. Like I said before, I'm not going to be running around with the box on "9" all the time, it would be on "3" at the most.
Thanks for your help so far.

I had a Luk Pro Gold in my 01 way back in 01. I had clutch slippage with it worse then my stock clutch. I was running an EZ and DD stage 3 sticks. I imagine the Luk has improved since then.
I got the Southbend FE and never looked back...well, I did look back at a few trucks I passed.
I do have the grabby effect but overcame it with a few extra RPM.

I meant to include in my earlier posts about the Spec clutches...
I ran the McLeod twin disk in my 99. If you want to hold serious power on the street without ANY chatter on take-off issues, it's worth a look at. It's a dual organic disk with a diaphram pressure plate. Engagement was smooth as stock, pedal pressure was the same or less than stock. You can get them from Haisley Machine or Scheids. I've also heard that Summit Racing may stock them, but I don't know for sure. Good luck with your decision,

My 2 cents
Well I have been running a Luc Ceremetalic clutch since last June. I have been 500+hp the whole time the clutch has been in and even broke 600hp at my last dyno event. On diesel only I am 541hp 1000+tq and I dont have a problem with it slipping unless I turn on the water/meth. Even with the water/meth on I dont have a problem unless I am trying to speed shift it. I have had it chatter/slip when I get on it after speed shifting all I do is back out of it and it will hold. No more slipping. If I shift the tranny nice it does just fine. I think if you were running a stock set up or even up to 400-450hp this clutch would last a very long time. This is just my 2 cents.
Yeah I know that it is not going to last a super long time at my hp level, but so far it works just fine. It was sitting on the shop floor and I needed a clutch. My mechanic wanted to try one and see how it would work so we put it in. So far no complaints.
It is pretty grabby when stating from a stop, but its not that bad.
