GSP,
I put the Dyna-trac free-spin hub kit in my truck back in February. I'm very happy with it. I also did the 35 spline inner axle upgrade and also put in a Tru-trac LS differential. Their kit is very expensive but it is very high quality. My truck was a late 2002 4x4, that didn't have the inner axle disconnect, so this kit really made a big difference. The steering doesn't pull or drag anymore, the truck seems to feel like it has less drag also. I install F-1 Mach 1.2 injectors at the same time, so I can't tell which did what, but my average fuel mileage has gone up from 14 mpg to 16 mpg.
Regards, Mike.

what kind of $$ are we talking for the free spin kit? inner axles? I've been contemplating this for years, but too many things pop up!

does the dyna-trac kit come with new rotors as well? i'm in the same boat as GSP with the needing new rotors. if so is it a special rotor that comes with the kit or is there upgrade options like drilled or slotted rotors that can be had from other manufacturers ?

I found this with a "Yahoo" search:

Dyna Trac Kit - $1895

It doesn't look like it comes with rotors. Also, check this site out too:

Dynatrac's Web Site

No brake rotors with the kit, just the parts needed to convert the unit bearing hubs over to the stronger and more serviceable 1 Ton size spindles, hubs, wheel bearings and premium locking hubs. I got the kit when it was $1795 and I see from atc250r's link that it went up $100. The inner axle upgrade was $595 at the time also. Most people won't need the inner axle up grade which beefs up the axles from 30 spline up to 1.5" 35 spline axles like the older F350 1 Ton 4x4s. If you decide to do the inner axle upgrade you will have to change the side gears in the diff. carrier or put a limited-slip or locking diff. that is 35 spline. I think the Tru-Trac diff was $480 and the setup/bearing kit was $190 for the dana 60. It was a pretty big chunk of change and the only thing that saved me was being able to do the work myself. I felt that it really helped my late '02 truck since my front end was turning all the time. I can feel the reduced drag and vibration.
Regards, Mike.
