Front wheel bearing/hub

Found a little wobble in the driverside wheel today. Popped the cap off the lugs. There is a little grease around the bearing. The nut was a little loose. I gave it about 1/8th of a turn and no more play in the wheel.
Don't recall exactly, but this hub has 50k miles on it at most.
Sice there is a little grease on the outside, is this sealled bearing shot?
Other than the dealer, is there a good (inexpensive) place to get a new hub?

......probably not....
drivers side is the one that will "unscrew" itself ...it happened to me in '02 i tightened it as tight as i could and staked the nut..... i replaced it early in '09.
keep an eye on it

Sounds like to me its time for a bearing pack. Most 2wd drives have serviceable front hubs which mean you gotta re-pack the bearings with grease when they start to get play in them. I might be wrong on the 2wd of 2002 but it shouldn't be a throw-a-way sealed hub assembly like the 4wd are.

try your local bearing source such as motion industries or applied industrial . i have replaced my lf with napas hub assembly at about 455.00 usd . after searching for the bearing so as replacement of bearing at a cheaper price i found it thru applied industrial technologies . good stock at thier supplier in reno .at 125.00 for 300+ id give it a try there you will need to supply them with the timkin # from existing hub . be patient just have them call it is a servicable item if you have a press and knowlage

Non-Servicable! This was replaced 2 years ago. At that time, I got it from the dealer, cheaper than Napa, for around $250 or $280.

Folks need to realize the 2wd bearings are completely different than the 4wd and are serviceable.
Problem is the rotor is part of the bearing, complete replacement is pricey.

I think the '00 also went to the sealed bearings.

Is it not a castle nut with a cotter pin on these like every other vehicle out there? Is there enough thread on the spindle to double nut it?

I think there are about 3 threads showing. If an "original" nut will not fit on there and be able to put the cap on, i will be looking for one that will.
