Who is running just the comp?

I want the Edge Comp and have read a million threads about how great it is, But everyone that has it has injectors, Turbo(s), exahust, etc. I have a FASS, Gauges, and stock everything else. What will it be like with just that? Will my tranny blow up or melt down? Can I tow with it off? I tow every now and again (not very much weight) and want to retain the reliability. I really dont need anymore power to tow I just want this to play a little. Any input would be appreciated. Tom

I had just my comp for about 70-80,000 miles, I can't answer as to how your auto will hold up because I have a 5 speed. The comp works great by itself but works even better with injectors.

I had the comp only for the first 15K, then the converter melted out (go figure), so I tossed in a Suncoast tripple lock (junk) with the new trans and was able to get another 82K before the trans melted again. All of the mods I have done have been around the third trans install date so the Comp was all I ran till the new Trans went in.

I don't think you will be disappointed with just the Comp. After all, you HAVE to start somewhere. You can always get injectors down the road when your wife lets you.

All I have is the comp and I garantee it will put a big grin on your face. Anything over 3x5 might hurt your tranny but it will give you a reason to beef it up to see what 4 and 5 will do. Or you can not tap the wire until you build the tranny either way it's a blast.

You can tow just fine with the box off or on 1 or 2. Get a EGT gauge.

The comp will work great with your auto as long as you leave the wire untapped. Once you tap the wire all bet's are off. Especially on any level above 3 and that's pushing it. What I recommend doing is getting a VB from DTT and then tap the wire. You can then run the comp on 5x5 and never have a problem with it. Your EGT's are gonna be a little toasty though.

If that were the case I wouldnt have anything . So what about top speed? I get passed a lot by Fords on the highway, I have it floored but they just inch away . They build the Powerstroke engine here in downtown Indy and most of the city drives them. I just want to go faster and not break my truck, they never go hand in hand....

Go to 3.54 gears. Then finish the power side so you still get to speed a lot faster.

I've been running just a Comp for about 4 years.
Untapped wire for the first 3 years.
It wasn't too much for my stock trans because until I tapped the pump wire, it works just like and Edge EZ.

After my Goerend Trans mods the wire was hooked up.
The Comp 'tapped' WILL be too much for a stock Automatic, or the stock clutch on a standard trans.

One thing to remember is Power Enhancments are like the Old West Gunfighters.
There's ALWAYS somebody out there who is faster.

I've been running mine tapped for about a year now. It ran good without the tap....lots more better than stock. Quite a bit better now.
One question, how does the hard wastegate line HY35 figure into this...elbow or turnbuckle?

Not sure I understand your question...but the hardline WG on the HY-35 can't use the elbow. Must be locked in the closed position by a turnbuckle. This should be done - you already have the boost fooler built in - it should be used to balance the added fuel with more air.
Don't exceed 30-32 psi boost with the HY-35....no increase in hp and EGT's will start to climb!

Just re-read your Signature?? Hy-35 on an HO??

I run the comp (untapped) with an smr VB kit, I love it. Allot easier towing in these hills. I have the bully dog J hook instead of the turnbuckle. AAmeeting, buy the comp, you won't regret it!

Good catch! He doesn't have the hard-lined HY35! The HO 6 spd has the 12cm HX35 so he CAN use the boost elbow.

Was this a test?

My buddy runs just a Comp ( wire tapped ), Fass, guages, and 5" stacks. His truck ( 02, 6-speed, HO ) made just a hair over 300rwhp with that setup.

I was refering to Tom's combination IF he bought a Comp, how would he improve the wastegate situation to improve his boost. Isn't his wastegate is set to close at 19psi? My boost was considerably higher with the elbow and bighead with the wire untapped.
