Where to hook up a Fuel Pressure Gauge?
Where to hook up a Fuel Pressure Gauge?
I have my 3 gauge set up and all is well. I want to hook up a fuel pressure gauge now. Where is a good spot to hook it into the fuel line? Do I need to get a set of Banjo Bolts and hook it up there?
Re:Where to hook up a Fuel Pressure Gauge?
I hooked mine up at the vp44 shrader valve. Removed the valve and replaced it with a tapped banjo bolt. I then ran a hydralic (sp?) line from the vp44 to the isolator mounted on the fire wall. Good luck Phil ;D
Re:Where to hook up a Fuel Pressure Gauge?
You need one tapped banjo bolt. wildcat diesel and geno's and lots of others have them. Get 2 washers too. I hooked mine up on the banjo that goes into the fuel filter. It's better to put it on the banjo that exits the fuel filter. On mine (02) it's on the bottom and way too much trouble for me to get to. I change my filter about every 8000, so it should be OK. I don't know how the 00's are set up, but it's best to go post-filter so it's easy to see if the filter is getting dirty. It's best to stay away from the schrader valve because that's where dodge or cummins will take pressure tests. If there is no valve, they can't test.

Might as well replace all the banjos while your at it. It's pretty quick, painless & cheap. I put a tapped banjo pre-filter and hooked my sending unit up there.
