Re:whats a "pump cover"?

Blue Chip Pump Cover? or another type of pump cover? Either way, it should be to replace the cover on the VP44 to connect a wire directly to the "pump wire" for the fueling box --- it's supposed to be a stealthy way so that the dealer don't see the wire has been pierced... but I think they are learning to check that.

Tony

Re:whats a "pump cover"?

Some say BlueChip cover provides better connection. I believed them, that's why I have one. Installation is very easy if you have the proper Torx bit, security style.

I ran a continuity check on a piece of wire through the grabber and had 0 ohm's of resistance. Never ran a Blue Chip- but I've heard of some over tightening and getting into some trouble.

Spark Chaser
F.Y.I you can not over tighten the pump cover connection. You will run out of threads before that can happen.

But I do believe that you could over tighten the cover it self with the torx screws.

The cover does make a "better Connection" better than the scotch lock that comes with the power lead wire. Re:whats a "pump cover"?

the fluke test probes are made for temporary testing purposes not to be installed for a long term installation.

Go with the cover for long term use. Yes the grabber is better than a scotchlok for sure

Re:whats a "pump cover"?

The scotch lock is not that good of a connection maker. The snap lock can come loose. If and when this happens you could lose the connection to the VP-44 and the power box. (which ever type of box you use) This is what I meant by a” better connection”. The Blue Chip Pump Cover makes a solid connection with the internal wiring of the VP-44. The lock nut that comes with it once locked can not come loose. The pump wire is attached to the lock nut, in my case with a double lock nut. This is what is meant by a “better connection”. I hope this answers your question. OF

Re:whats a "pump cover"?

Thanks for the clarification ;D
I've been using the Grabber for some time and have had no problems. I've personally never seen a scotch lock fail either. Crimp it on then spin it around to ensure you have a good connection. It seems strange that boxes come with scotch locks for all connections, but the only one people worry about is the pump wire ???
