whats the best big SINGLE turbo

Im looking to upgrade my stocker to a big single turbo, I cant upgrade to twins yet for financial reasons but I am wanting a good single turbo to run bigger injectors (180 hp maybe) and the comp. I tow 10k lbs occasionaly.

I also want one that I can use later for a twins setup

whats the best for me

What brand of injectors do you want to run and how much HP do you want to get with the twins? That will greatly vary the responses on what single to buy.

I want to run either a 4.5 or 6 mach injector, I just want something to cool it off while towing and driving

You'll need a 64/14 to cool 4.5's while towing, and that will be a bit laggy.
A 66/14 will be needed for 6's.

If you tow very often, I would go with a small set of twins, like a set of BD Twins. They would handle either injector, towing or not (with the box turned down while towing of course) and would be a lot more fun to drive

May be asking for too much out of one turbo... especially at altitude?

I would not tow 10,000 lb with 180 hp injectors unless I had twins.... and anything big enough to cool 180 hp sticks with a comp, will be to big for top turbo on twins.

If definately going with twins at some point, I would run an S300, like the PS 62 or 64 and live with toasty EGT's when playing hard or towing...till you get the bottom turbo.
I would got Mach 4's (150 hp).... will tow ok and will always be resellable if you want bigger with twins.

Well I have the biggest injectors anyone would want unless you where way over aired and I run the 66 and tow way over 10k and also live in Utah. I pulled 18k over soldier summit at 72 mph and my pyro was pegged right at 1200 degrees the whole time, at 2400 rpm's.

a TAD B1 turbo would work good for you...then you could easily add an S400 under it in the future and have the B1-B2 twins...

i know where you can get a B1 turbo!!!

And where would that be???

In the direction of the original post.... I have what would be equivalent to 125hp sticks. My 62/14 does just a fine job of cooling things when I'm pulling 14K. If I can maintain 70+mph on the grades EGT's stay at or around 1200* with the Smarty on SW #5 and TST on #3. On level ground the most I see is 1000*.

Found the same thing to be true going over the Rockies at 9500 lbs (when I had a big single) - 70 mph worked great!
But ran into traffic... and at 60 mph EGT's got very toasty.
Required third gear and 2200 rpm for the last 10 miles to stay under 1200*.
