I will be pulling about 20k plus the weight of my truck to morrow and I can report back as this will be the first "heavy" load since the 66/14. I love mine but as I have said before I would have gotten an A5k had I not got such a deal on my 66. But be realistic, imo if 500 is all you want you dont need an 5000, you could probably get away with less than a 66 but if you plan on pullin I think a 66 sized turbo would be the way to go. I would get either a SB or an HTT 66/13, maybe even a 66/16. JMO

after talking to several people about this same question... it seems the 66 is to big a turbo for your typical daily driving. Apparently because of the lag it has. Not great for towing either. Others may disagree... this is just what I've been told... by a couple turbo companies.

With most of the turbos out there, the 64 seems to be the biggest one should use with a lot of street driving. Don't get me wrong... you could use any size you wanted but, the drivibility begins to be a problem.

I'm wondering if the HTT stainless 66 would be halfway decent. Of course you have to have enough fuel to push it.

If you just want something for everyday driving and toying @ about 500hp a 62mm cant be beat. The bigger you go the drivability you give up.
Depends how brave you want to get.

Which 62mm??? Is there any need or benifits to twins if you plan to quit just over 500hp I want to be able to pull 5er Cattle etc... as fast as I'd like without being too limited by EGTS. I really have to be careful with the SC I have now. I understand EGT's and am smart enough to let up I just dont like to Does this make sense????? How much cooler than stock would a 62mm run? What sized exhaust housing would be good on the 62 for daily driving and towing 20k+

Thats what I was told too, but I have bigger plans than what I am currently running and for ME daily driving is not a problem. Like PD said I guess it depends on how brave you are. I also think auto or manual has a lot to do with it as well as driving style. I am not tryin to talk anyone into a 66mm turbo or any turbo for that matter, I was just sharing my experience.

Chet, if you really think you want a 66ish turbo you may want to look into the A4000. I dont know much of anything about it, nor do I know if it is available yet or not but I was looking into it before I bought my 66. I have now idea what is based of off but I THINK it would have characteristics similar to a 66 s300.

Anybody have any ideas or info on the ATS A4000?

As for driving style I drive hard all the time wrapped out in every gear and its a 6spd.

Thanks guys for the input. My thing is, right now I have stock inj. pump and sticks....however, next summer comes both. I dont really care about hp #'s b/c they dont mean anything if you cant get the thing to spool. I do have the nv5600. And 600hp would be nice. I dont tow anything other than the occational 21ft boat 5 miles . I just want to tow a sled on dirt and my butt down the track.

It just takes some gettin used to when driving a truck with a bigger turbo. You cant pull out in front of people the same way you can with a stocker and expect to just zip off. Also you may need to drive faster, or slower when towing to avoid surging.

If I was getting a 62 I would get the baddest one I could afford, ie Silver 62 or an HTT SS 62.
