Is a straight axle in the front going to be a lot tougher to put in my truck than I expected? Or is it near impossible, anyone know? Remember my truck is a 2wd.

Well the whole truck thing didn't quite work out, but I did order the dually front and back adapter kits, plus 6 steel rims. I hope it looks just as good. I also found a place that makes the shortbed fenders as well.

Should get started next Monday!

Would painting the steel rims black and getting the center caps from 03-07 dodge dually's look good?

I have a'98 reg cab 2500 that I put duals on. I found that the later 17" wheels have a different bolt pattern. So I used the front hub adapters from a '96. Had to turn a smidgen off the ID to fit the '98 hub. On the rear I just bought new '98 3500 brake drums. Made new brackets for the brake backing plates. Split the brake backing plates by cutting a wedge out of the bottom so I could slip them offthe axle and back on behind the OEM brackets. Then bolted everything up so I could set the backing plates to space right on the drums, then welded it out. Welded back the pie slices, and I have a true duall Dana 80 that the dealership said could not be done with out a new rear end. Total cost for hubs, wheels new rear drums. The old shoes will work till they wear out. $600. I tow a fifth wheel with this truck from coast to coast.

The 17" wheels I have use the 8x6.5 bolt pattern, and fit my '97 just fine. I know some of the later 17" wheels use a metric bolt pattern and will not fit correctly.

So, got the Adapters and wheels and tires and everything on. Got some Firestone Treadforce I believe they are, 235/85. Painted my rims black, but right now I'm running without my fenders, which I ordered Y-day. I'll get some pics up tonight.

Your truck sound like it will be pretty cool looking! I'll watch for the pictures. I still have a ways to go on my conversion. The bed is just about ready for paint. Unfortunately it will be this fall before I complete my conversion.

Are you going to take all the side molding off or atleast the small part on the bed? it looks like the fender piece will have to go.
