What should i expect from twin turbo kit when it is installed

ok here is a few things im looking to get answers to.......every shop i spoke to told me that twins on the stock engine is really high maintenance........more then one shop told me to lower the boost on the stock BD kit when i get it installed to around 53-54 PSI and get ready to replace the head hasket because he said it normally blows 1 or 2 head gaskets during break in on the twin kit....what are signs of the head going out on these engine i never had it happed so im unaware of the signs it shows also i was told i need to think about studs and oringing......also i was told that i should htink about rebuilding the bottom end of the block because of how many miles are on it....... more then one shop told me i should keep an eye on the block of hair line cracks and have them welded before then get bad and such.....so basicly i am asking what shoudl i expect

Based only on others experiences (my truck is still almost stock ) I would say o-ringing and studs are a must with twins. Anytime you near 50psi, especially with advanced timing, you are in danger of blowing your head gasket. With o rings and studs, you should have no problem with the boost many twin sets provide.

I would say you should talk to some other shops. I have been running 50psi with mine for almost a year now and its my daily driver. It dosent matter if its in town traffic or pulling 10k I like the twins way better. I would say with the small amount of fuel you have, you wont need orings but if your looking at some bigger sticks than you got now, you will have to. Sorry but the "blowing 1-2 HGs during breakin I dont understand

Sorry I cant help you out. Mines one of Piers kits and I had no problems. Piers did recommend setting the blow-offs at 50psi to protect from lifting the head but I have occasonally seen 53-54 psi for short times and not yet had any problems (I guess i have been lucky) It has been widely discussed and accepted that 50psi is a reasonably safe limit without studs with twins due to the lower TIPs they offer VS the bigger single. That said Mr MURPHY can show up anytime.

I would recommend ARP studs. F-1 was selling them...but I noticed they no longer list them on their web site?? Do a google search....I know you can find them there.
For great discussion on studs and head gaskets.. see here...

Studs are a must if you want to use all the benifits of having twins, and if you blow a head gasket, have it deckeed and o-ringed then while it is off. Most twin kits perform best at 55- 65 psi in order to use this o-rings or fire ring will need to be used.

Jegs has the ARP head stud kits. Check and double check you get the right part number though.

Studs like ARPs are much more important than the O-ringing.

There are lots of guys running up to 65psi on the stock HG with ARP studs.

If you step up to the superior clamping of the ARP studs, then the need for O-ringing can be put off until you are pushing mega-hp.

You should be able to support 600hp on #2 only with stock HG and studs. Drugs change things, and are much harder on the HG. Stay away from propane and nitrous. Even water/meth will lower the HG threshold.

Why O-ring if you don't need it? I'm hoping I never have to have the head off. If I do, it will get VERY expensive (custom cam, ceramic tappets, ported head, O-ring, etc).

I've heard of some guys are running twins with the stock studs retorqued, but ARP studs sound like a safer option.

You dont have enough fuel to spool the twins. If you dont intend on going over 500hp you really dont need twins.
