What is equal to Edge EZ?

Thinking about getting another tuner for my truck. I had the Edge EZ and liked it until it started acting up. The lack of customer support has me wanting to stay away from Edge products. So the question is what is another tuner equal to the EZ?

A bit more flexible, and a bit more advanced would be a smarty.

But maybe we could help better if you told us about your intentions.

Well, in my opinion a programmer like the Smarty (and some others) is the way to go- no additional hardware that can go bad, no additional connectors that can go bad etc.

If you use a programmer you may want to go up on the injectors, there are better options than the RV275s out now. But if you do so, you may need more air meaning different turbo.

Yeah,a used Smarty for your year works great. No plumbing. I know the 98.5-2002 used boost elbows and then a J-hook to increase air.
The RV275's are unbeatable. They alone increase mpg a bit. I had an EDGE EZ for seven yrs on my 2nd gen. Kinda stone age then though. You needed a separate boost fooler which was installed way back on the block. The used ones might be harder to find. A Jr. or Sr. would work well.

I've run the ez for quite a while now with no issues. Mine is ancient, you have to take the cover off to move a little fuse like deal between settings...I still need ot install my rv275's...what is the separate boost fooler you are talking about Danderson? Mine plugs into the MAP sensor IIRC....

The early Edge EZ's would set off an overboost code. The boost fooler was another device you had to buy to fool the computer. That's probably long gone now with the newer ones.. The J-hook or the boost elbow kept the wastegate open a little longer I believe for more air. Very reliable boxes and with the RV275's there's an extra 100 rwhp. You need an egt gauge at that point. The injectors without the box run hot and are dogs. Add the box and it's a rocket. I'd get the box before the injectors.

This will be available. If it's not broken don't fix it. We can't buy them in California anymore but the rest of the country can. I don't know how aggressive the EPA will get depending on the election.
