water pump question

Hi guys,

What are the symptoms of a water pump that is dying? Does it give you any warning? Is there a way to troubleshoot the puppy before it leaves you high and Dry?

Generally the worst that it will do is leak from the vent. Some are a hole in the housing and some just have a depression in the casting where it bolts to the block so you can't really see it. If it does not leak it is good. I got about 230,000 out of the stock pump.

Changing it takes at least 20 or 30 minutes, you could change it in the parking lot of the Cummins dealer, its no big deal. Two #10 headed bolts and remove the belt.
