Wastegated housing or not?

I am looking to upgrade my housing to a 16mc2 and I am wondering if I can run a non wastegated housing? What are the pros of cons of wastegated and non wastegated. Wouldnt a non-wastegated housing eventually blow up my turbo?

Thanks.

not if it's sized properly... 1st gen trucks didn't have wastegates... most 18 wheelers don't have wastegates... they don't blow up turbos...

besides, you can't get a 16cm wastegated housing for the H1C/HX35 turbine wheel.

Wont the turbo just spin too fast then? Oh, can I use a housing off of a H1C?

if you're not running too much fuel, it won't spin too fast... if you've still got a 160 pump, I don't think you have to worry about overspinning it...

H1C and HX35 turbine housings interchange.

Ok , I am getting dvs and 370s very soon, this was just a cheap solution to keep my egts down for a little while. So do you think this may be a problem?

I have my waste gate welded shut & have had for at least a year. I run up to 46 lbs of boost when the notion strikes I still have the stock HX35 so I don't see a reason to have a waste gate my self. That doesn't mean I am not missing something though.

Oh yeah - at 46 psi the HX35 is WAY overspeeding and out of it's range. That turbo is good for around 35 psi - that's it. The extra psi is coming from the overspeeding turbo superheating the air. This makes egt's go through the roof fast. My HX35 pumps out 46 psi too, but I never bother going that high anymore because it won't make much extra power past about 38 psi. However, IMO the 16 cm housing will be a bandaid fix if you are going to run big dv's and and 370's. You will be able to push alot of fuel with that setup and IMO would benefit from a turbo swap - at least a HX40.

I am going to use it as a bandaid for a littlle while. Turbos are expensive obviously, and I have enough money to do some minor upgrading. A turbo swap is in the future.
